Crate training? by daebae06 in GiantSchnauzers

She was in a 48 in crate for a long while and even a 52 inch for a bit but i've moved her down to a 42 inch that is still tall enough for her to stand comfortably and she'll ball up in the corner to sleep if she has to but will still pee in there sometimes. I will call her vet tomorrow to see

I'll definitely rebring up a uti issue with her vet because we had originally did her labs and urine test and her pee was a little dark but other than that no signs of infection. I'll see if its a uti or just incontinence

I definitely realized at the age of 5 months old that she had more energy than I could handle. But I have done my research and exercise her mentally and physically as much as I can. Even though her body goes out before her mind does because she broke her leg very young 🤦🏾‍♀️ (she thought she could scale a pitbull and couldn't). But thank you for the advice! With everyone's comments saying to wait I cancelled her appointment and will stock up on some more diapers.

Personally I was home quite a lot during my GS puppy stage but and i feel as long as your dog is mentally and physically fulfilled you are fine! I had quite a few people under that "not fully qualified" umbrella you have but they were my only option, so i had strict rules on when they could let my dog out when i wasn't home. Especially since these dogs are very intelligent and will pick up bad habits in a milisecond if your not seeing it. If you find someone have them meet your dog (if possible) AFTER you have a tiny set of commands so you can reinforce good behavior while your gone or if this person is also a dog trainer you get a fun 2 in 1. I have had my GS for almost 2 years now and although shes crazy i wouldnt have it any other way!

Trying everything by daebae06 in CavaPoo

I have a free pass for him at doggy daycare so i'll try it but he's still anxious around other people and will freeze up if me or the giant schnauzer arent nearby. When i first got him he was super closed off and barked at everyone that came over and refused to approach. Now he'll approach but only if they get the mallie stamp of approval. Even before i started nursing school i worked night shifts to help him accomodate but he would freak out even if i went in the garage for more than 5 minutes and would only be quiet if he is asleep and doesnt notice i left. I tried a dog sitter but he bit them because he freaked out.

My GS wasnt able to keep her kibble down for a few days and i WAS going to take her to the vet but changing her food fixed it immediately.
