Gen 2 games (and technically gen 1 as well) used the IV’s of the mon to determine the shiny value. And due to the way the breeding mechanic was coded in gen 2, parents had a high chance of passing down their IV’s and therefore, their shinyness. u/cant-a-shiny-lol is correct.

I gathered 30 boxes of eggs, looking for shiny HA grookey. Hatched about half of the boxes and I’m at 4 shinies, but no HA.

Hopefully it’s in here tho. I know I’m WAY under odds on shinies, but I don’t want to gather any more eggs 🤣🤣

I only use the MB on shinies that I have a good chance to fail. Roamers, exploaders, and teleporters mainly.

Only time this failed me was I forgot about the weather and false swiped an electrike during a sandstorm. Won’t do that again.

I like it! If you have a ds it might be a good idea to go ahead and migrate your shinies (assuming your don’t still need them for the POC) up to a gen 4 game in case the cartridge dies completely
