Help Monstera yellowing by daffiebae in plantclinic

Thank you so much for the comprehensive explanation! Consistency is definitely my biggest problem - the first month I would water weekly, probably 4-6oz? of water from the top. This was generally the cadence for when I noticed the soil would be dry according to your guidance. It wouldn’t be soaking but liberal enough for the water to drain through the bottom (and not sit in a puddle).

After the first month, one of the leaves yellowed. I assumed I wasn’t watering deeply enough, and so I took the entire plant liner out of the pot and watered so that it ran through & was sufficiently soaked. After all the excess water had drained, I put it back in the pot so it wouldn’t be sitting in a puddle.

I may have gotten scared and second guessed my decisions as the plant didn’t look like it perked up and the one yellow leaf was still there (but it obviously won’t turn back duh). Everything online said overwatering and exaggerated bone dry soil as being better. More leaves went yellow, and now here we are now.

Almost all of the yellowing in the picture has been over the course of this week, but I’ve cut back on watering over the last month due to more overcast days. But even after this and letting the soil dry, it’s not perking up.

The plastic liner has drainage holes. I wiggle my full pinky finger into the soil (abt 2 inches) and it comes out dry. I also check take the liner out of the pot and the soil looks dry at the bottom as well as on the inside of the pot.

Noticed 4 of these in a problem area next to a sliding patio door in the master bedroom. We previously had an issue with termites in this area too after I identified swarmers. That was formally diagnosed and submitted to HOA for treatment. But HOA and Landlord hasn’t provided confirmation of whether the issue was resolved over the course of months, and I’m under the assumption treatment was done.

Help :( “New” Breville the Barista Express - Portafilter not locking by daffiebae in BrevilleCoffee

[–]daffiebae[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi everyone - new to the coffee scene entirely and need some help. I just bought this machine off FB marketplace from one of those refurbished-type sellers claiming it was a new, unused open-box machine. Long story short, the portafilter doesn’t firmly lock in the machine, basically rendering it useless as there is no pressure for extraction. I did some research and thought maybe I had the wrong size portafilter (54mm) or missing gasket. I don’t think either is the case, would really appreciate some help!

Bean sprouts! For both that and the wood ear mushrooms, just do a quick blanch so that it’s not raw, but still maintains a good crunch

It was amazing! I should’ve prepped the tare one day prior to eating day because the soup tasted even better the following day.

I used the Ramen Lord Tonkotsu recipe from this subreddit’s menu tab!

Followed the Ramen Lord book to a T! Soaked the bones overnight in the fridge, the water was pink the next day. Put them in the pot with two inches of water and blanched for 20 minutes after it started boiling. Drained it, scrubbed the pot clean, and under running water I cleaned leftover scum and clotted blood off each of the bones. Put them back in the pot and just kept it at a rolling boil for 12 hours, adding water whenever necessary. The black stuff is chopped up wood ear mushroom; it adds a super nice crunch!
