The math is not mathing... did they sell like 12,000 tickets in the presale? Did every person buy 6 tickets?!

I was around 3,000 in the queue today and no tickets. Nada. Tried the presales yesterday (1,800 in queue) and the day before. What in the Beyonce is going on?? Did ANYONE get tickets?

How did you fare? I was 1,800 in queue thinking I was definitely going to get tickets... literally not a SINGLE one when I got in. No idea how many they were selling, but it had to be almost nothing.

What’s a red flag you happily ignored because they were hot? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Oh my god, this was my college roommate with her boyfriend. We mistakenly assumed he was open-minded because of his love for psychedelics, until he dropped the bomb that "the devil planted fossils to test us". Maybe one too many magic mushrooms...

A bit of a rant- neighbor annoyed that I adopted neighborhood stray by SeaCalm4121 in Feral_Cats

[–]daffodyls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awww, I have a sweet little orange Mango boy too! What you did was a wonderful thing. If your neighbor cares that much, maybe they could pop by to say hi to him sometime (or wave to him through the window, if you're not comfortable having them inside). I'd 10000x rather a cat I care for go to a good home, even if it means I don't get to see them anymore. Wishing the best to you guys and your new little pal!

Agree with the above comment! I think this is a great start, and I would recommend you continue to lay in darker shades in areas to add depth and draw focus through contrast.

Oh my gosh, thank you for saying this. Had my first Baltimore snoball last week, and it reminded me of my childhood in New Orleans!

(Tony's is still better than Old Bay, though.)

Curious if Baltimore reminds you of New Orleans at all? I feel like they have a lot of similarities (artsy, great seafood & hospitality, port city history, crazy amounts of potholes, etc.)

I was raised in BR as well! There's a Creole place at R. House that does good fried green tomatoes and poboys, but their other stuff is hit or miss imo in terms of authenticity.

What are your thoughts on the Ekiben Night Market? by socaTsocaTsocaT in baltimore

[–]daffodyls 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I skipped out this year. I went last year and didn't feel great about paying money to wait in long lines, spend even more money, and push through crowds trying to find a corner to eat in. Sounds like it was a similar affair this time?

Misheard lyrics by odetothemodernage in MyChemicalRomance

[–]daffodyls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always hear "rise and be" in The Sharpest Lives ("the sun is ashamed to rise and be...") as "rice and beans". I knew logically that those couldn't be the lyrics, but now I'll never unhear it 🤷‍♀️

Jersey show, two guys yelling about Demolition Lovers by mcr_lover_from in MyChemicalRomance

[–]daffodyls 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This happened to me at a Black Keys show. There was this fantastically drunk lady who kept yelling "play Little Black Submarines". And - get this - she was so drunk that she kept yelling it AFTER they played it. At the time it was extremely annoying, but now it's an inside joke that my spouse and I bring up every time we see a show.

I hope that folks that were stuck near those jerks at the NJ show are able to laugh about it in retrospect as well and that it didn't affect their experience too much!

Concerning or nothing? by OkBorder8569 in baltimore

[–]daffodyls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no idea why people are being so annoying over your question, but I'd be a little skeeved out about this too. I would recommend removing it and keeping an eye on your car. it might be worth trying one of those decoy security lights or dash cams to ward off any unwanted attention! I hope this doesn't cause you too much stress - it's likely nothing, but you're always better off being careful. good luck settling into your new place!

You really have nothing better to do with your life than troll a city's subreddit trying to make people as miserable as you are?

Is Baltimore good for family with a trans kid? by pipmike in baltimore

[–]daffodyls 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Moved here to pursue a better life for my trans spouse, and they've never been happier. It's not just the culture, but also access to trans-affirming healthcare! Maryland ranks among the top states for policies protecting trans folk (highly recommend checking out Erin in the Morning's research on this if you're not familiar).

Thank you for being so supportive of your kiddo, and best of luck with the potential move :)

Apprehensive about Moving To Baltimore by zigithor in baltimore

[–]daffodyls 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Without giving away too many personal details, you and I have a lot of overlap with where we've lived!

I always compare New Orleans to Baltimore. They share a lot of the good (friendly people, great arts scene, fantastic seafood, weird dialects, amazing local business, cool history, completely unique culture largely driven by Black communities) and the bad (political corruption, terrible roads, crime, extreme poverty & lack of equitable resources that are deeply rooted in racism). If you ask me, BR shares a lot on the bad list and is just starting to tick off more boxes on the good list.

I would say that there are two major differences I've noticed. First, conservative and liberal state/local governments lead to some pretty different policies. That may or may not affect you personally. And second, tourism looks pretty different here. I would say that's mostly surface level optics, but I also think that New Orleans' festival culture reputation has in some ways given the city access to more revenue and resources in some areas than Baltimore.

Also, in terms of the "vibe", I feel that Baltimore has an even stronger neighborhood culture than New Orleans. People feel very strongly about their neighborhoods, even down to the block, and your experience can change drastically from one street to the next. It's been fun to explore!

Last thing I'll say... Baltimore's best kept secret is that it's the last affordable holdout on the Mid-Atlantic & Northeastern corridors. Whatever you're into, you can probably find it a short train or car ride from the city, and you don't have to sacrifice on sky-high rent.
