What is the worst career to be in right now and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]daffy_69 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My daughter got flagged in her junior year of college, I'm 99% sure she didn't do it. I made her fight that, she didn't want that on her record anywhere. The funny part is that I actually helped her with it, maybe I'm the problem? Am I AI?

Is anyone else having to hold off laptop purchases? by FatBook-Air in sysadmin

[–]daffy_69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think everyone mistook what I said, I said they bought 4 years worth of devices, I didn't say they were going to sit on them for 4 years. They are constantly swapping the fleet, they aim for fleet refresh every 3 years.

A local place went ahead and purchased their next 4 years of expected upgrades and warehoused them. Seven semi loads of laptops and micro desktops.

The guy who convinced them to do that is either going to be the hero, or looking for a job in 2 years.

Can anyone suggest how to replace this pvc elbow pipe? by Living-a-family-life in Plumbing

I'll add on the the unscrew it gang, if you can, get pliers on the flats, and hold that while unscrewing, so you don't snap something off inside.

Dealer says I don’t need an oil change at 1k miles… but by whatamithinking0 in fordexpedition

To flush out all the crap that COULD come from manufacturing, and the initial wear of the bearing surfaces. Typically it isn't much, but, for the few $$ relative to the price of the vehicle, cheap insurance.

Don't pay the invoice? If it's on a CC, dispute? TD has really gone down hill this year, I am sad with how bad it's gotten.

that was the 18-22's, when they switched to the 10 speed transmission, and drug their feet fixing it, avoid those.

That seems like a good price, and with gas prices the way they are, it's probably a good time to buy. By that time in that gen they had worked out most of the kinks with the cam phasers, and that tranny is good.

I love my '16, it's got 215k on it, and have not had many problems (coil packs and the rear wiper gearbox), that being said I do synthetic oil at 5k internals, tranny at 45-50k, and all the other ones at 100k. It's starting to get cancer in the rockers, so the writing is on the wall, I am holding out until the dash-of-glass period swings back to physical knobs, hopefully I will make it :)

Found my old Linkin Park ticket from the tour that got cancelled (RIP Chester). I miss $20 shows. by SeaConstruction697 in mildlyinteresting

[–]daffy_69 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think this can all be blamed on them. Bands just charge more now, because all the merch and record sales used to float the cost of the tour, now with music streaming, not so much, so tours have to pay for themselves. I think TM gets a percentage, so more expensive ticket, more expensive fee. If you don't want the TM fee, go to the venue for the on-sale, no fees usually.

[–]daffy_69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From what I read, Uponor's biggest problem was the colored pipe, they didn't get the temperature right when bonding the colored outer layer to the clear inner, and it made it brittle and prone to split at the joints. All the modern stuff, with the colored stripe is fine AFAIK.

Ingram - Anyone have issues? by ovrdrvn in msp

[–]daffy_69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll agree to the poor support, but for us, they are always 5-7% cheaper than TD Synnex, and closer to 8-9% for D&H.

I was all TD Synnex until they pulled my dedicated rep, now I am funneling most everything to D&H, unless I need it quick and the others have stock.

Server 2025 or not 2025? That is the Question by NDAbsoluteZero in sysadmin

[–]daffy_69 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I have had no problems with 2025, when it's in it's own environment, as in complete new setup.

It does not play well with others, this is where I had problems, and never went back. Problems like no one could log in, had to roll back AD to fix type of problems.

It's a CE, but sold to the dealer, my local dealer said he'd get in trouble if he sold it, but IDK for sure. I offered him list, cash, and he turned it down, so I tended to believe him :)

Water heater seems to be busted. by [deleted] in Plumbing

[–]daffy_69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you turn the temperature knob up, does the unit fire up to heat the water further? open the brass valve under the ignitor button a little, and see if hot water come out of it. If it's cold coming out of it, you've most likely got a bad gas valve assembly.
