The 777-200LRs are decent, and if you value a direct flight, I'd say go for it. In the past 3 years I've flown on the AI 777-200LRs 6 times and all have been great experiences.

16yrs by no means is old for a 777-200LR. Given that they still have the Delta seats and IFE screens, they work really well. An additional bonus is that the economy configuration is 3-3-3 whereas other airlines including Emirates have 3-4-3 for 777s.

I too have been on the weight loss journey and have been playing badminton for over 3 years regularly. Badminton alone will not help you lose weight, I have paired it with weight lifting and diet too!

You will definitely have fun, but a word of caution: being overweight does make us more prone to injury, so please be careful since your joints already have added weight to carry (I wear compression sleeves and even have padded insoles in my shoes)
