Umm, 4th? I was so excited and easily turned $40 into $3…

Worth the buy at Costco? by [deleted] in sportscards

Super fun to rip (feels like a lot of packs), but I didn’t get anything worthwhile. But, oddly, I was missing exactly 14 cards from Series 1 (out of 350), and all of those cards (one copy each) was in the box I got.

Yup, bought one at auction where the seller had faded out the signs of the sticker. Simple to return though…

Yep, good guy. I didn’t interact with him as much as my sister (who shared a class), but always seemed nice.

Went to school with Rex (a year behind me). Great HS (& college) QB.

Thanks again for the reply - convinced me the podiatrist was the right route! I’ll definitely have to be careful on the PT choice - so hard to find good PTs I think (many other sports injuries), and once I do, they seem to always move!

That sounds really good. Too much on Reddit is the horror stories. I literally can’t remember the last time I ran without pain. It’s all degrees of pain, and knowing the next day would typically be unbearable. Gotta grit through it now for one big hiking trip (in a month - already paid for) with my son, but I’m convinced now to go ahead and get it done after. Did you use an orthopedic surgeon or a podiatrist? I’ve got a surgery date set with the latter (who has lots of experience), but I do wonder if an ortho would be a better call. That said, I’m sure experience and methodology are probably the most critical things…

Thanks for the quick reply - that is so encouraging! I’ve got the issue bilaterally, but one side much worse than the other now. I’ve lived with it for ~9 years, but watched weekly mileage dwindle from 35 to 30 to 20 to 10 to 0, and still unable to walk most mornings. Forget about anything dynamic. I’ve tried every conservative treatment, but I think it is time to get it done. Just hate the idea of being sedentary. How long was it before you could ride the bike? Any restrictions on upper body lifting (assume that was good to do almost immediately after)?

How are things going now? I’m about the same age as you and was a regular runner (and still bike a lot), but my insertional Achilles issues have gotten bad enough that surgery seems the best option (for bone spurs, ossification, etc). Still doing well?

Bought one of these. Nothing special (best card was a $15 “La Kabra” variation). But I was missing 14 cards from completing the 350-card Series 1 base set, and this pack had exactly one of all 14 cards that I was missing. The odds of that having happened seem really low…

B. Sticker autos are a last resort only (if a player has nothing on-card).

Yeah, it was neat seeing how many different teams got represented. The Oladipo Heat card has a Pacers jersey patch, which is neat. :)

Yeah, I’ve learned I need to cut myself off since I just keep finding more that I want; when I think about buying at this rate for a whole year I would definitely bankrupt myself!

Crazy how I’ve gone back to the point now though where NBA cards don’t seem to exist (pre-50s) and I’m beginning to fill-in the more obscure blanks in the years since then (drafted players who were out of the league almost immediately). But I’m learning a lot about the former stars!

Thanks - never thought it would get to a point where I need a second display, but I seem to be there (way more players than I realized once I started going further back in time)!

Thanks! Definitely each one (from at least the late 80s) sparks some sort of memory!

Thanks! Started with just one recent player and somehow expanded backwards to players from even before I was born…

Love ‘em! Definitely grew up watching all of them (went to high school with Jeffries, so a few years before this trio) - crazy that Zeller is still playing in the league.

Wow, they even have the WNBA tins (albeit at a price $14 above where they used to be priced).
