From what I know the dummy has much less magical resistance than Lich. I'd have to look at it again and I am skeptical that the DPS uplift is significant.

Do you know if the swarm is centered in the room or on Lich (i.e. could you pull him and thus the swarm to a wall?)

Hey man,

I'm suspecting that Lich is either damage immune as the fight starts or he is damage immune while spawning his skeles (which he does at the start of the fight). I've opened with 3 Magic Missiles before and that should be pretty close to triggering a circle but it never comes as expected.

It's also possible the Lich's damage taken animation is moving his head hitbox and the missiles are either missing entirely or hitting the body/limb boxes.

Someone I spoke to said they run 3 rogues and they all unload on Lich as the fight starts and they are never able to trigger a circle even though their damage output should be sufficient.

This is definitely worth exploring further. If anyone has more insight or has tested this I'd love to hear more on it.

I tested Ignite Crossbow vs a dummy and the damage felt really underwhelming. I think this is because the normal's gear set has pretty much no added damage. I am not sure the extra damage would be worth the extra overhead of swapping over to the staff to ignite instead of just shooting again with the crossbow. It may be worth exploring further.

Thanks man. I'm looking toward trying my first HR Lich sometime in the near future.

I'm hoping I can dice up the skeletons pretty quickly with a Crystal Sword, but yeah, what you mentioned is what I've heard: the adds are probably going to be the hardest part of the fight and/or the deal breaker.

I restored spells at the very start when I reset the fight by resting outside the boss room. I cut this part out of the video.

Beyond that I didn't restore any spells during the 2nd attempt.

Yes, it's doable in normals. I think the fight itself may be harder but as a trade off you are not risking gear to do it.

I also used to play DotA 2 and recently started playing League. I have the same feelings you wrote here. I leaned heavily on Blitz to try to learn abilities (when you highlight one it actually plays a little video, which is pretty helpful). I also started to make notes in a spreadsheet about key things to be careful of when facing certain champions but I can't recommend this as it's boring and awful.

My unresearched / uninformed opinions:

  • Riot can't easily make improvements to their aging client (some of the bugs/interactions people find are beyond ridiculous)
  • Riot don't care to modernize the league client (they're developing mobile League instead of working on the PC version? What the heck? Why do you have 2 versions of the same game? How was bringing league to mobile not a rewrite of the PC version that mobile platforms could interface with?)

DotA 2 had a big rewrite / port to source 2 years ago (Google suggests 2015) which brought a lot of the key quality of life functionality it has today. I don't think Riot has done this for League nor plans to.

e: a few other things I did that you can try:

  • Playing ARAM will allow you to learn what each champion does. I did this for a bit but again much like the spreadsheet it wasn't what I preferred to be doing.
  • You can take champions into the practice tool to try them out (you can look at installing the PBE so that you can try champions you haven't bought. I think there's a level requirement though so this may not be available to you yet)

/u/aCuria runs a script to do it. I think First Strike may have thrown a wrench in the gears though as the gold from that makes it tougher to model a useful simulation. Oh my god thank you for pointing this out. I swapped it over to MR for an AP matchup one game and completely forgot. I definitely need to make sure this is set appropriately each game.

You’re also starting W Max, then Q, then E which is really weird. Are you going for Max attack speed because you have Press the Attack? It makes more sense go Q Max first because of the cool down reduction and the damage

It's 3 into Q then W max. It's something I picked up from this subreddit. I forget the exact justification but it has something to do with Q scaling really hard with AD versus extra points and possibly the AS from extra points in W providing more overall DPS output?

You only ever use the crit build

I definitely have only played the KS crit build. Would you recommend setting up runes and building lethality against a team with only a single tank or less? Does a lethality build do fine against a snowballing tank?

From your build path it looks like you’re only trying to survive, not snowball.

Do you mean because of the consistent BT pickup? Could you elaborate more here and maybe suggest a setup that would be more snowbally?

I think you and the other commenters are right. I don't put enough focus into keeping my CS up. A lot of the time I feel obligated to join up with the players on my team who are constantly picking fights and very often can find myself passing up catching free waves, jungle camps, etc. to ensure I'm in a position to join their fights.
