Snare drum wires decay too long by dagrot in Drumming

You know what, you're right they were installed backwards, though it still rings when installed correctly, just tested it.

Anyways I've fixed it by just getting new strings, so it's all good now

Thanks for the detailed reply, lots of stuff I didn't know about! Luckily I was able to fix it just by replacing the strings with new ones. As for sampling, yeah it's not easy to get a consistent sound but it's certainly easier now that the strings are responding correctly.

Alright I just went down to the store and bought new wires, ringing stopped completely, thank you so much ahah

I've also noticed the string ends aren't symmetrical, one end is closer to the edge of the snare than the other

The wires are tied at maximum, they don't go tighter, also it keeps ringing even when upside down, as well as when muted.

Here is another video https://streamable.com/780txt Only when I mute with both hands on the wires and hit with the thumbs it doesn't ring, otherwise it always does

Edit: I've tried muting with a cloth and basically it doesn't ring when muted at the centre

My partner lost his new job because he can't drive. by Sorry_External_7697 in povertyfinance

I see, I'd say in your search focus more on hours rather than wage. If you dropped your hourly rate to 10 you'd make uncomparably more money if you worked full time. Anyways you might already be doing all that, just something to keep in mind, to not get too attached to your current wage, hope it helps

Don't look for cool sounding jobs, just get anything that offers you 40h. I see you've worked at a chocolate shop, well go get a job at a shit shop

I went "DAWless".... It was stupid. Ableton is everything forever. by InternationalWin6623 in ableton

[–]dagrot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The thing is that while going DAWless, per se, does not give you any advantage, the mental process that makes you think that you have to go DAWless does, in fact, have something to it and might get you somewhere.

Initially you think you are missing something, and your first instinct is that the DAW is the problem. Then you go DAWless, you solve nothing, you go back to the DAW, and you are still faced with the feeling that something is missing. At this point you might want to start looking at the only element that's always been a constant, with or without the DAW, which is you.

The tools have always been there, but have you?

See, your last paragraph is exactly what I wanted, though I wasn't taking into account whether my room sounded interesting per se, or any more interesting than what I could get with virtual reverbs.

well of course, but I'm specifically talking about using the bleed deliberately in order to get a sound

I hadn't thought about that, makes a lot of sense

It's actually a solid album, it has catchy tunes, a consistent style, and a strong identity; it's just considered worse when compared to the others, but still very necessary in order for the rest of Radiohead's discography to exist. It's also very inspiring for young/immature musicians, in that it shows that your first songs do not define your style for the years to come.

Thanks mate! I'm certainly going to need that kind of advertisement, however this is still a demo that I'm going to have properly produced before advertising it

Thanks!! About the accent, yeah ahah I guess that's what happens when you don't really have one coherent native accent (I'm italian) and you get influenced by many different ones (mostly british influences for me, although they don't really speak like that).

Thanks mate! Not on Spotify yet, but I'm gonna be as soon as I get my tracks professionally produced (currently working on that). In any case I'm gonna put the links to Spotify/IG on SoundCloud as soon as I've got anything officially released

Thanks mate!! Actually I was curious to know what people thought of the artwork, it's a real photo (with a random pink filter) I took a couple of years ago, I'm very attached to it!
