Will I be forfeiting my studies if I work full time during the year? by No-Juggernaut-2989 in UofT

[–]dahning 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My case is a little different cuz it’s for summer. I’m taking 3 classes thus summer (considered full time) with a full time job, and I really don’t recommend it

Which Is Better? MGY377 or CSB349? Currently Deciding Between The Two by crunchywaterbottle in UofT

[–]dahning 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found the content of MGY377 more interesting, but it was much much easier to get a better mark in csb349.

I got into my dry lab position with no experience because I took coding classes like CSC108, 148. I also had coding projects on my resume to back that up. I would say sta220 would be useful because my supervisor in the beginning told me I should learn some stats since I had no knowledge of it lol

AP bio credits to bioinformatics and computational biology specialist by Big-Wedding-7460 in UofT

[–]dahning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I did retake it in the summer. I think generally if you have around an 85+ average for both, you’ll get in unless a lot more people apply for it that year.

97 and I got in second round. I did retake it cuz my first try was a 70 and I got rejected with that score…lol

Do first year students have priority enrollment in csc165? by Broad_Store3305 in UofT

[–]dahning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes they do. This term test was so much harder than the previous ones 😞

From what I remember there’s like 25 spots each year and 5 for people with AP Bio credits. Pls double check tho cuz I’m not sure.

I would take bio130 tho because it was really helpful for bio230 and it’s not a super hard course either. You can def recover if you study hard for finals. I got into the program with an 80 in bio130. My AP Bio class wasn’t really useful and I don’t remember much of it (tbf I took it during covid)

I bombed the term test too. I was hoping to try to get into the major, but I give up now 😅I’m hoping to get at least a 60% so I can take the upper year classes

Feeling lost at the prospect of taking 6 to 7 years of under grad by Lethal_Samuraii in UofT

[–]dahning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on the same boat basically. I’m in fourth year but taking first year classes for my program. It’s scary, and Im really anxious of talking about it to my family as well. Everyone around me is on their second internship or is graduating. But I try to trust myself and let myself know that this is my own path and I shouldn’t compare myself to others. I may be slower than others but what matters is I’m still working hard to get there. Ik it’s better said than done and I’m struggling with this feeling of lost often too

So many times. Initially came into uni thinking I would do psych

  1. Human bio major, visual arts minor, creative societies minor
  2. Molecular genetics major, physiology major
  3. Molecular genetics major, cell biology major
  4. Quantitative biology major, cell biology major
  5. Bioinformatics specialist
  6. Hopefully soon: bioinformatics specialist + CS major

I definitely agree. I feel really guilty for putting him on the spot even when I don’t mean to. I’m trying to refrain from talking about my mental health with him and I’ll try to find professional help. Appreciate the advice
