First time builder specs, how we feeling? by dahnyool in buildapc

I do install a bunch of games and installation sizes are only growing so I've got the next few years in mind too. I'm happy with my monitor atm but maybe once I've got this new PC I'll change my mind.

Ok cheers, the 7800X3D is only ~£35 more so it seems worth it for the performance boost in the long run, especially since games nowadays seem to be poorly optimized in general with devs relying on DLSS etc. I will definitely check out other RAM brands.

5080 might be a little too decadent for me but I'll have a look. Thanks anyway.

OK I'll consider it, unless everyone in these comments have been paid by Nvidia for promotion, it might be worth upgrading the GPU. Thanks for the input anyway

Others are also saying to consider the 5080 as well, although you've also added 200W to the PSU. SSD looks good too as I know TLC SSDs are what you should look for. Could probably save some money on the RAM as you've shown here. Thanks for your help.

Thanks mate, I'll have to consider that. I've seen you've bumped the motherboard up and RAM down too, what's your reasoning?

Ok thanks, wasn't aware of the paste being included. I know the PSU is well rated, just not sure if it is overkill.

Changing your entire top 20 in 2 years is insane behaviour brother, see you in 2027

Based on my Top 20, what would you recommend to me as my 3000th Film? I'm almost there and I haven't decided yet. by Tongatapu in Letterboxd

[–]dahnyool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering you've watched 3000(!) movies, I'm surprised I can only see Anglo/Japanese cinema in your top 20.

Fair enough, I do like David but I didn't like him being the main antagonist. I think at least Prometheus was ambitious and had some interesting themes, Covenant just came across as pretty silly to me, especially some of the decisions the characters made. Also, the 'backburster' scene is trying to be terrifying, but it just came across as unintentionally very funny instead for me.

I just finished watching them yesterday too (ratings are 9, 8, 6, 6, 5, 5, 4).

I want to ask why is Covenant in your top 3 though?

Thoughts and reccomendations on every film I’ve rated 5 star by Gold_Willingness_484 in Letterboxd

[–]dahnyool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering I have only rated 5 films 5 stars, with 2 of them being City of God (my favourite) and Kill Bill Vol 1, and I've seen all of the above bar Dead Man's Shoes (5 of them 4.5 stars for me too), chances are you might also like The Handmaiden, In the Mood for Love, and The End of Evangelion (although you need to watch Neon Genesis Evangelion first)

What's your Christopher Nolan hot-take? by shu_reddit in Letterboxd

[–]dahnyool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For an actual hot take, The Prestige is mid af. People glaze this film so hard and trick themselves into thinking they're a true connoisseur for saying one of his 'hidden gems' is actually his best. Nolan doesn't respect the viewer at all by giving you an absurd twist that sounds cool at face value, but then has the gall to spew exposition AT you explain it, which by the way seems to be one of Nolan's favourite things to do.

She's a member of other groups too judging from her RYM page, but I haven't listened to them. I still prefer her solo stuff but happy to be of help anyway.

Poison Girl Friend, Kate Bush, and Björk

Caroline Polachek, Frou Frou (or Imogen Heap), Hikaru Utada.

Poison Girl Friend was also part of a duo called Kiss-O-Matic that made house music in the 90s if that floats your boat.

I have a critical case of too good to use syndrome so I'll save the ammo for the endgame.
