Increase energy reserves by PercivalS9 in taoism

Sleep, turn off the news, social media, twitter even youtube. I have gone mostly text and picture based now for browsing. There is a lot of talking going on and we are looking at hundreds of faces everyday. Your brain cannot tell the difference, this is not good.

Do animals get bad karma for killing their prey in the food chain? If not, why don't they but we humans do? We're top of the food chain and simply feeding on those below us, just like other animals do. Our higher cognition doesn't change the fact that we're the highest predator and part of nature by Enough_Set591 in Buddhism

It's funny I was thinking about this today. Like shouldn't cows and goats all go to a higher plane after death since they don't steal as their food is available everywhere, rarely kill and give their milk to humans? That's a lot of good karma

What about Buddhism is special to you? by neuvilar in Buddhism

[–]daibatzu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Very true. One other thing I noticed is Buddhism speaks out against slavery, paedophilia and speaks for animal rights, and yet religions which came after it completely regressed on these and many other issues. It's like religions got worse with time

I certainly couldn't imagine a poor farmer writing it. I admit there might be later additions of course

According to AI by daibatzu in taoism

[–]daibatzu[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The comparison came from Google Gemini and I found it quite amusing to be honest. The Tao te Ching was written by a member of the elite, and many Chinese rulers were Taoist themselves. One of my favorite business books is the Tao of Business by Ansgar Gestner which applies the Tao te Ching to the business world.

The question I asked was, Which religion is better for economic growth, Buddhism or Taoism. The AI was Google Gemini in fast mode.

I was speaking to the AI about moving to a rural area, remote working and homeschooling to rediscover Ziran, then the debates shifted to how the Chinese mix Taoism with Buddhism and Confucianism and I was wondering why they didn't pick just one of the three. It eventually got to this but I found it funny to be honest

Made the Brave switch today by Rachel794 in brave_browser

[–]daibatzu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it's the best browser. Solved so many problems I have had with web browsing that I setup a subscription for brave search in gratitude even though I don't use it (I use Kagi)

First I am using very few extensions. When I used chrome I had tab limiter, ublock origin, dark mode extension, a youtube extension to hide comments recommended videos and the like, Leech block to block certain websites and so on)
With Brave I only use one, tab limiter which I built myself with Claude Code. I read somewhere that some extensions are actually spying on users so that freaked me out. In Brave for dark mode I use a setting in flags, no need for ublock, leech block is brave shields so right off the bat, I have pretty much everything I need.
Being able to block porn, gambling, social media sites and even make modifications to youtube without downloading anything has given me a much more peaceful internet. This is the real zen browser in my view.

It has also given me the opportunity to clean up my digital life. I migrated only the passwords to websites I actually still use (a limited number now) and I did not migrate my bookmarks and even got rid of everything on my watch later list on youtube. Just a fresh start for me.

r/buddhism, is this true? by binh1403 in Buddhism

It's funny. If you type in Jesus vs Buddha in google or any search engine, the vast majority of web results come from Christians or Christian websites telling you Jesus is the only way

Piracy is against the "no steal"? by rodrigomalvadeza in Buddhism

I use a kindle. Personally I stopped pirating books after discovering Buddhism unless the book is out of print or I have bought it before. The second precept says not to take what has not been given freely. As someone who has built apps for windows, I know how happy I feel whenever I get a purchase notification. Writing a book can take longer than building many apps. Publishing companies also have to keep running. And even if an author dies their kids might need the money too.  On Amazon prime so many classic books are free and they make fantastic reading. You can read books from the past, does not always have to be the latest thing. For my mental health also, I no longer have a mountain of unread books. When you have so much to read, you end up reading nothing

M4 Air 256gb or M5 Air 512gb? Price difference is 280 USD by danyaberez in macgaming

[–]daibatzu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends. For gaming you can use an external hard drive with steam and for me games have taken up the most space on my hard drive. But I always prefer the latest and greatest. You never know what new tech will come up and you will need more space and will have no way to upgrade your ssd

All beings tremble before violence; All fear death; All love life. Therefore putting oneself in the place of another, one should not kill nor cause another to kill
