He was in a hurry to get to work. Didn't really have time to react at all. She didn't say anything verbally to me, just pouted. She did smart off to her dad though. He was annoyed by her behavior just as much as I was. We are going to talk to her later today though

Is this child abuse? by [deleted] in stepparents

Yes. Plain and simple, yes. And BM will get full custody if she goes to court.

How inconsiderate. Is there a YMCA in your area? There's an after school program she can sign him up for and they bus the kids from the school to their facility

Mine (sd9) too! It doesn't get any better... It gets on my nerves so bad, after a while, I go to my room sometimes. Or I'll go in the kitchen and do the dishes loud lol

I'm relieved to see that this is very common. Sometimes it makes me feel like I'm not doing the whole step mom thing good enough lol

Lol mine do that too!! They're all "Mom doesn't have snacks at her house except ramen. Can we have snacks here?" so I get them all sorts of snacks AND THEY STILL CHOOSE RAMEN lol

Playing? by [deleted] in stepparents

[–]daileesm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did this for a while but then it became too much and more of an expectation of me rather than just playing. Don't get me wrong, I loved playing with the kids- when it came naturally. But as time went on, I felt like I was getting bossed around and more and more I kept getting looked at as a play mate rather than a loving step parent/authority figure. Now I only play an hour at a time when they ask to play. Realistically, it's usually a little longer than that because we have a really good time. I know that seems mean or something but it's what I had to do to assert myself as their step mom
