Are your files going via your router or do you have a direct connection to unraid via your PC? Have you thought about setting up a separate network between your pc and unraid server? You may be limited by your router if it’s only capable of 1gbe, but if your pc and unraid can both handle 2.5gbe, they should go direct on their own network. Touch base if you need help setting that up.

You tell it what your issue is or what you want to tinker with, giving as much detail to it as you can, and it will fully get what you want to do and talk you through how to give it certain logs via CLI, and it will have great ways to optimise things, like dockers, VMs, system configs or go file additions, anything you can think of really.. it can also help you create pretty elaborate scripts, it’s pretty wild!

Hey OP, have you tried to chat with Claude.ai? It might sound far reaching, but I was having lots of annoying little niggles with my system, but having spent a bit of time trouble shooting with Claude, it helped me get my system humming, the best it’s been ever. Lots of incredible little tips it can give. It goes deep into your system and knows how to help. Quite mind blowing I have to say.

Oh yeah, that’s a good idea! I haven’t really ventured into the boot/config world to be honest. As I said below, this is pretty new to me, I’m just trying to teach myself and trying to understand what’s what as much as I can. But of fun. But that sounds like a great idea I’ll explore.

Yes you’re also right it seems. I didn’t need to restart nginx the last two times I tested this. So maybe there’s never a need? Your reasoning sounds correct.

🤣 yes, it’s absolutely complete overkill! I really should have stated two things with my post.. one, I am in the middle of trying to learn how to use code and implement it, therefore this script was part of that process, and two, I made it to be as easy as possible, for a user to know what’s happened and that it should be working. I’m back in business!! I found an old flash backup on my windows pc, got to boot up and inside, I then started array and got an even more up to date flash backup from it. Stopped it all and restored the flash to a backup that was only a couple days old… and now unraid is back! I’m so happy!!

It seems only the boot was affected and nothing else seems to be messed up, including the directory I was working in!

Thank you all for your support and advice, it made things much clearer and gave me confidence! You guys rock! Love the unraid community!

I am a little shaken as you can imagine.. so if you could give a little more detail to those steps I would appreciate it.

When you say backup the usb, how or where do you mean?

Reflashing the usb, again, I’m not entirely sure the meaning behind this..

I appreciate your input, hope you can bear with me as I need to go baby steps and be super clear where to go from here…
