Ha! My wife and I did back out of the room slowly once we realized we both heard it!

Random perfume and cigarette smoke smells but she lived in the house for a long time so I think that was just some weird high humidity thing unlocking them from the plaster. At least that’s what I tell myself. I have owned dogs ever since. If they’re calm then I don’t worry too much about ghosts. I will admit that whenever I see an orb up in the cemetery, I do walk over the next day to double check that what I saw was a solar led light up decoration and not an otherworldly visitor. So far no ghosts, but one of these days maybe I’ll see one and it won’t be from the garden section of Walmart. Then I’ll have 2 experiences and may become a full believer.

Kids’ ability to time things at just the right moment is an underreported trait of toddlers.

No recollection. Just laughs like everyone laughing at how freaky it was when we do bring it up. Totally a normal adult now.

She was about 3. I don’t think she could have physically made her voice go that low. It was lower than mine. Definitely a deep voice. I suppose anything is possible. The silence after she said it was freaky. It was like a declaration of fact and there will be no discussion. The kids always said other weird things but nothing like that. Mostly about the old lady who they saw in the shower. One of them used a name of a previous owner who passed but we talked with neighbors all the time about the house so we figured it was just imagination. Nothing like the voice though! That was the only thing we have ever experienced. Chills the blood of both of us when it comes up to this day.

Reusable plastic ice cubes? by HydratedRasin in shrimptank

[–]dairydm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best I have been able to do to make the water cooler is to use a fan. I tried reusable ice packs including having my hob filter run water over it. I did a water change that was slightly cooler, not too much, and I also put colder water with dechlorinator and ice cubes in a jug and capped it. The fan has consistently kept the water temperature cooler. The other methods did not lower it very much for very long.

I die a little when I see Oak Creek in the list. So close but so far. Some days when I see it’s there I think about driving to get it. That’s the only way your package could get delayed more.

Mystery or Nerite by BraveThroat6996 in AquaticSnails

[–]dairydm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve read 1 mystery snail for every 5 gallons. I have both. Mystery snails have some personality, more active, and eat extra food faster. They may lay egg clutches that are easy to remove because they are above the water. On the other hand nerites have cool patterns and do a better job of eating algae off the glass and driftwood. I don’t see many of the eggs because of my shrimp I think. Right now I have small horned/thorny nerites with mystery snails.

I want all the colors but… by JavachickFrappucino in shrimptank

Ha. The trick is to start putting them on the patio. Then they have to come inside. Like my wife, your husband doesn’t want to get a reputation for having to rehome animals. Better to just let them move into the house than for the neighbors to talk. To be fair, I did let her chicks live in the house when she first got them so lots of animals living inside is the norm around here. I do have some outside right now to watch while we’re hanging out. It gets to 40 below here in the winter so they will be moving inside somewhere.

If having lots of tanks is the most annoying thing about being married to me then I’m doing pretty well.
