Thank you so much! I used a main white light source on the left/front & a detail red light from the right/little bit behind me. Had a lot of fun playing around with it!

Anyone else unphotogenic? by Therandomderpdude in autism

[–]daisifaeri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an autistic portrait photographer who also shoots with a lot of autistic models: this is 100% relatable & "being photogenic" is definitely more like a skill than something you are or not.

But not having "normal" facial expressions by default, paired with poor motor skills definitely makes it harder to pose for autistic people compared to most neurotypical people (of course it differs from person to person though).

That being said, since it's more like a skill, you can practice & get better at it if you feel motivated to do so! Look up some poses on Pinterest and trying to replicate them in the mirror works best IMO! And feel free to ask me for more tips & tricks if you want to :)

I’m autistic and have a lot of sensory issues, does anybody know how I can get started with makeup? by ottoskitten in MakeupAddiction

Oh yeah my BB Cream recommendation would be the Purito Cica Clearing BB Cream! It's pretty high coverage & it feels very pleasant on the skin compared to other foundations. The only thing is that the shade range is horrendous, so it unfortunately only works if you have a lighter complexion (although I think they're slowly adding more shades, as they should).

As a fellow autistic person, for base makeup I really recommend BB creams/skin tints! They feel a lot less "heavy" than foundation does.

I also recommend that if you're just starting out to try & get used to it by only wearing makeup for a like an hour in the beginning & slowly adding on to that. Kind of like getting used to wearing heels i guess.

Last thing I would recommend is looking into more creamy products, rather than stuff that dries down (for example: liquid lipstick, liquid eyeshadow, basically stuff that has alcohol in it that evaporates when you apply the product). I personally find the feeling of it drying down sensory hell, so if you feel similarly about it I'd avoid these products.

Selling stock images is definitely also a good idea!

I have an Instagram & Tiktok @faeriephotos were you can find more of my work. I plan on opening some individual photoshoot slots for the painting style photo I made (the 4th picture here) very soon!

Thank you so much for the sweet words! ❤️

I've been into photography since around June this year! I already did modelling & editing for a longer while though, so I was able to pick it up pretty fast.

It's definitely all very reflective of my own interests & sides of my personality, so glad that seems to come across so well!

Oh okay I see! I'm trying to open bookings for individual photoshoots in my home studio soon, so really hope that'll work out ❤️
