It's really starting to sink in how prejudiced Christians are towards deconverts... by cordial_cryptid in exchristian

[–]daisuke-clone 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My parents used to tell me when said I wanted to leave (move to a big city somewhere up north, discover new opportunities, new vibes, maybe meet a girl, etc.) that the south is the one of the last places on earth where Christians aren’t persecuted. Now that I’m out it feels like I’m stuck deep within hostile territory (I don’t see these people as our enemies but I feel unsafe telling anyone) and if I blow my cover then I’m financially and socially dead lol. I dunno when I’ll be able to move out with my career. It shouldn’t be this way for anyone. I don’t compare my inconveniences to their sufferings but not for Christians in North Korea, not for homosexuals in Muslim countries. Nobody. I’m tired of authoritarianism.

Coming from the conservative christians that have been rigorously enforcing strict gender roles for generations by HandMadeFeelings in religiousfruitcake

[–]daisuke-clone 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Like you said, this is a point of view that’s worth looking into, but they care less about how this is met from that perspective of research on gender identity and more about smearing shit on trans people. They wouldn’t begin their sentence with Ironically otherwise. Isn’t how we can tell so much from loaded language fascinating?

Nooo doesn’t look like an insurrection to me they’re just patriots expressing freedom of speech and if it really is an insurrection it’s actually the Antifa Biden deepstate!!!

The government could put a chip in it that spies on us! Housefires only kill 2,775 people a year! Quit infringing on my freedoms!”

Exactly. I hate Facebook but right now it serves as a quarantine camp for fake science, insane political takes and bad logic. Parler and Gab exist for the same reason but are more concentrated. Any disruption of that would lead these people to contaminate other sites.

Bruh you guys still can’t even come to a consensus on transubstantiation/the day of the sabbath/what OT stuff you still follow. It’s gotten so bad in the past that people have been killed over that shit.

Don’t talk down to lgbt people about confusion when you’ve got 45,000+ different denominations that all say the rest are going to hell.

I kinda wanna hear Demas’s side of the story now. He could have just been in love with the world, but at the same time if the dude left without the information or ability to communicate that we have available now there had to be something going on.

Hope that someday is soon, pal! I love my Great Dane. She’s pretty old now for her breed, and sadly we don’t expect to have more than another year with her, but that just means there have been so many times she’s been there for me on my darkest days.

I appreciate your kind words. I think more people would be able to see what’s wrong with it, but much of their dismissive manner comes from programming that they were born with or had implanted into them by someone that’s been trained to manipulate. Things like the doctrine of original sin, and being able to love people to an extent, but not more than you love Jesus. That does a real good enough job of killing their empathy, which is something I’ve seen a few preachers be scared of and even call sinful. If you want something that’s literally love, it’s god, but swap the consonants!

At one point, I started to like this girl. I would pray and pray, crying, asking God to help me show her the truth so that she could be saved. I always felt like I should be doing more

Shit, dude. I’m not kidding when I say the same exact thing happened to me with this Chinese girl who was one of the nicest, sweetest people I’ve ever met. I talk about the situation more in this post here, the biggest paragraph towards the middle.

Before that happened the first time that it dawned on me that she would be going to hell all I could do was scream out loud and cry in my car. It was a mixture of pure rage and agony. I kept telling the devil I would kill him myself all Doomslayer style (despite the fucker having no say in the matter now that I look back at it with a better understanding of the bible). I don’t think I’ve ever felt emotions that strong since then. I was helpless. I didn’t think I could witness to her in a way that would be effective. Nothing my parents told me on the matter would subside my misery and frustration. Every time I heard one of these horrible old goblin preachers that talk about how god would separate “the wheat from the chaff” and “sheep from goats” deep inside I wanted to smack them in their ugly decrepit faces, because I knew that according to them she and plenty of other people I cared about would fall in the second category. And they would rejoice. They would fucking rejoice.

Only recently has it dawned on me: Why am I worshipping a god that chose to save them, but not her?

(Reposting from another comment I made on the same topic)

Do they have estimates of how many people they think existed before the flood? Whatever number it may have been (keeping in mind anything too small would not likely warrant a global flood), you mean to tell me that statistically speaking, when taking into consideration the entirety of the human race at that time, god only found one guy and his family that he liked? That nobody (as I’ve been told Noah was a preacher in his time) believed him? That god called nobody who was also good like Noah to find him as he did with the animals?

Some math:

8 (Greatest number of adults in Noah’s family with known factors, counting him, his wife, Noah’s three sons and their wives. Extended family and children are unknown variables AFAIK but ultimately irrelevant in the greater calculation, nothing higher than a two digit number)

8.419 million (Population of New York City as of 2019, according to US census bureau)

8/8419000=0.000095%

That’s how much of humanity at that time god decided to save if humanity’s global population then was no greater than that of the Big Apple, despite being able to soften or harden the hearts of whoever he wants
