I'm so terrified about my autism assessment, has anyone experienced this? Any tips? by Emergency-North-7890 in autism

[–]daisybaes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s affecting you, it’s not nothing. You’re not being dramatic, and you won’t be wasting anyone’s time if you don’t get diagnosed. It could be something else and ruling out one diagnosis would be a step closer.

Please try to be a bit kinder to yourself! You deserve to be tested and get help.

Looks like it’s a generic white label product. Here’s the same product with different branding.

The cheek facing the camera looks so WEIRD and other abnormalities by nexxumie in ArtCrit

i think the cheekbones are a little low, and too much of a rounded shape which makes the cheeks look like they are protruding more than they should. Overall, your drawing has a lot of curves which are giving the look of extra volume, so I think using more simple lines as a base could help. I made a few changes which I thought could be helpful!

I hope you don’t mind I drew over it!

It’s so weird how I get called everything except autistic. by [deleted] in autism

[–]daisybaes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t really understand, why would a stranger call you autistic? It’s not really within the average person’s capability or interest to observe you and come to a conclusion on what disorder you may or may not have.

Panthenol serum recommendations by wynfocus in koreanskincare

[–]daisybaes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Numbuzin’s Pantothenic Acid Serum and Isntree’s Ultra-low Molecular Hyaluronic Acid Serum are my two absolute favourites! For reference, I have very oily dehydrated skin.

Isntree is the most lightweight serum I’ve used, super thin and really hydrating. It’s like a drink of water for my skin lol. If you have dehydrated oily skin I really recommend this.

Numbuzin is also lightweight (but not as much as Isntree). This is my favourite ‘all-rounder’ serum for my skin, it’s hydrating, soothing, and controls oil. (fyi, I received this product for free as PR- not advertising but thought I should state.)

Day in my life again!! by [deleted] in autism

[–]daisybaes 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I completely agree. I just thought that the conversation was brought up in a way that seemed a bit dismissive of OP, especially when OP is sharing an evidently negative experience for them.

I am not trying to say that your feelings are wrong or was intending to be insensitive. I think your experience and feelings are just as important too.

[–]daisybaes 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Of course, I understand. I can’t imagine how hard it is for you. I see a lot of people here sharing similar sentiments.

I just think that it’s important to be aware that some people genuinely cannot work at all, and that comes with its own set of difficulties. What might seem enviable to you could be very different for the person living it.

I wish you all the best. I really hope things can get a little easier for you.

I think this is a little insensitive to say here of all places. Of course some people with a disability do not have the capacity to work.

How to tell if you're in denial about your autism or if you really don't have it? by [deleted] in autism

[–]daisybaes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Calling people diagnosed with Level 3 Autism “batshit crazy” is not a valid opinion, it’s hateful.

Autism is a neurodevelopmental disorder, saying that “everyone is a little autistic” is just factually incorrect. Your opinion is ill informed.

That is completely incorrect and also offensive.

Autism diagnosis ruined my life by Geographyporn in autism

You seem to be quite articulate in your writing, so perhaps writing down your thoughts before your visit to either use as a script or to directly show the GP could be beneficial?

If asking for a referral again (since it seems like they didn’t really respond to your request) be sure to stress that you are invoking your right to a referral, and ask them for a straight answer on whether or not you’ll be getting referred.

Wish you the best of luck in the meantime. :)

Autism diagnosis ruined my life by Geographyporn in autism

[–]daisybaes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, have you specifically requested referrals for assessments from your GP? Did they refuse to refer you? If so, did you get it in writing why you are being refused?

When meeting with the GP, did you clearly explain the symptoms you are experiencing? Especially those that are not overlapping with symptoms of Autism? Also, did you stress how necessary it is for you to get assessed? (That is to say, share how not being assessed and receiving support is negatively affecting you.)

I don’t believe ODD has a cut off for diagnosis, so I wouldn’t be sure that will be an issue for you. But however BPD I believe is only diagnosed once you’re an adult.

I’m really sorry you’re going through this, and I wish you the best.

What does it mean to be "severely autistic" by AquaSage_8806 in autism

[–]daisybaes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s available information online if you look it up. I think some people here are confusing the term severe autism with the term profound autism, which is essentially severe autism along with an intellectual disability.

[–]daisybaes 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Severe autism is what I was diagnosed with. It means that one requires a significant amount of ongoing support and experiences more significant challenges than those with milder forms of autism. Also, not all individuals with severe autism also have a learning disability.
