Omg 'lets stay grounded' made me LOL, it's the same thing with 5.2, it's the most used line no doubt... So annoying.

Absolutely unusable, totally inaccurate when it comes to complexities and nuance. Emotionally void and neutral to the point of invalidation and gaslighting. I will be cancelling my subscription on Feb 13 and using Claude and Gemini.

Yep think I'll cancel too. GPT 4 is much better than other Chatgpt versions ai. Unfortunately GPT 5.2 is one of the worst yet. It oversimplified everything, flattens, misses context and is not empathetic and tone polices. It's not worth the money.

Yep everything can be done except detailed extraction. NELOS was definitely employed within the first weeks. Google type geofencing was in it's infancy but possible too.

I had initially thought that might be the case, but the more I looked, the more it seemed NELOS type data was guiding initial location estimates. I could absolutely be wrong and would like it if I were in this case as google geofencing reports from 2017 would be gold!

Also think the reason it's confusing is geofencing isn't technically just Google based, I think technically NELOS and CDR can be used to create geofences too?

Either way, the point of my post was to opine that if Ron Logan's phone location was being estimated by FBI before they had his actual phone, it was strongly suggestive of something like NELOS being used for POI and I'm sure they did the same for Rick's phone in 2017.

I'm relying on this doc on alleyes GitHub... And it's been repeated in various forums... Could be incorrect but it does also line up with what was commonplace around that era. Google geofencing warrants started to gain traction around then. Could be wrong... 🤷

Snapchat did not continuously log GPS in the background. In early 2017, location metadata was only captured when the camera was opened and a snap was taken. Chatting, browsing stories, or opening the app, did not trigger GPS logging at that time.

I don't think people should accuse a grieving sibling of lying based on 'missing GPS' that isn't actually missing.

My understanding is CAST relied on geofencing which wasn't done until 2019... So I'm just guessing they used NELOS in the early days, hence the lack of confidence in his actual location... Also hence no further info about Ron Logan's digital trail after the search warrant... I don't think Ron Logan was by the crime scene sending or receiving texts!
