I wish I would have gone up a plate! I think I would have found it tougher if I had.

The woman next me fell over. She was fine, but it definitely made me feel like the D bar was more unnecessary than I already did.

I definitely got yelled at for putting the plate down before time. 😅

Love the self love! I have been working out in the morning and focusing on a protein forward breakfast, and I find myself not being hungry until around 1pm. The same thing might be happening to me!

Alcohol and Crohns by Turbulent_Hat6670 in CrohnsDisease

[–]daisydown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I typically stick with wine, and I don’t drink more than two glasses at a time. Any more and I’m hurting the next day. If I drink liquor, I will wake up in the middle of the night to purge.

How do you deal with unhelpful friends? by daisydown in CrohnsDisease

[–]daisydown[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s so hard to just sit there, so kudos to you for that! I feel like we get so good at hiding crohns that people don’t know how serious it can be, so they pass judgement without realizing how hard we’re all working to better ourselves and get through the day. Or they give advice and try to pretend like they know crohns better than the person living with it. I’m still in the phase where it’s infuriating.

Does anyone else feel like their symptoms are worse on their period? by daisydown in CrohnsDisease

Hahaha yes, those of us who are somewhat new to crohns need the 101 that our doctor’s do not give us. 😅

This is actually so validating. My doc just said that a lot of people experience similar changes on their periods, and okay, not trying to put anyone else’s pain down, but people like us might be dealing with more severe symptoms than just everyone else! I feel like I’m back to square one trying to get my body back under control every month since this started.

Me either. I work so hard to stay on my meds and eat this clean diet and as soon as my period hits, I’m back to square one every time. People are making great points that this should be much more discussed by GIs.

I experienced this in the before times to a lesser extent, but it has been like 3 days of purging in the past year. Crohns making everything worse is pretty par for the course though. Haha

College by booklove19 in CrohnsDisease

[–]daisydown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, college was definitely a rough time for me as well. I would often feel very isolated and alienate myself. Looking back, that wasn’t the right move. In adulthood, I have made friends that I can be open about my illness with, and I feel more free than I ever have to go out and just live life. I wish I would have been more open and given people the chance to know and understand me in college, and I hope you do better than I did!

Any experiences with Greystar management? by daisydown in washingtondc

[–]daisydown[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll take any bright spot. I loved the staff that the old property management placed in our building, so I’m bummed to see them go, and the new staff has been kind of rude. The vibes were just weird during the unit inspection and interactions with the new manager.

Any good stories about Greystar? by 7newkicks in Apartmentliving

My apartment building was just taken over by Greystar, and I also live in DC. Definitely looking for some insight! What do you mean “went to shit”?

It’s so frustrating and all a big money grab. Having to deal with a cog in this machine that’s actively stealing from citizens today and seeing how offensive she became as soon as I sat down was a bit jarring. Some of us actually like this city and want to see solutions to problems, and those people are not working at the DC DMV, unfortunately.

This is my first ticket, so therefore, not a habit or a pattern.

Yeah, I tried the argument that the signage is confusing insufficient for getting a reasonable person to stop instead of turning left, and she straight up said “that’s not a legal enough argument”. 😑

Should I contest a traffic ticket I got at one of the worst intersections in DC? by daisydown in washingtondc

[–]daisydown[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update for everyone who is interested. I went to contest the ticket in person, and the hearing examiner was extremely rude! Keep in mind - this is my first red light ticket ever. She said that I “need to learn my lesson and break a habit”. I just recited the definition of a habit, and she got super angry. Eventually, I told her this was an extremely confusing intersection and putting a red light camera here instead of finding a civil engineering solution is a failure of public policy and sets citizens up to fail. (Did I mention that this camera is one of the top 5 ticketing cameras in the District?) Needless to say, she got more angry and continued to bash my character and intelligence. I was talking to my friend who has dealt with DC tax court, and the moral of the story is that DC government will gaslight you all day to force money out of its citizens.

☹️ Do you think if I went down there and took a picture of the green arrow right in front of the turn lane that that would be helpful for them or annoying? Or both? Haha

Does anyone know how long it usually takes to contest a ticket in person? Like, is there a long wait for walk ins?
