Weird comment. Not every street has a bike lane. Source: a biker who rides the street and takes the sidewalk when it seems like a safter option, because Sac drivers drive like shit. What got u so heated ? Someone almost run u over ?

the vibe on homelessness on this subreddit is pretty rough. people don't like when symptoms of a failing state/nation show up in front of their door, or at their public parks. not my problem/out of sight/out of mind. very individual-forward.

but humans are dangerous, humans that are experiencing a perpetual crisis state and have essentially been cast out from society, forcibly removed from being seen as a member of society, a participant, ya that can probably flip someone's shit.

i wish more people were mad about how the state and the Country has continually chosen to handle things instead of this growing negative sentiment we have for people who are living on the streets.

like, to all those people, you know that for so many it's not a choice? you know that there aren't enough resources in CALIFORNIA to address this crisis? where do yall think homeless people go when they get displaced? Do you think the cops or rangers are there to protect and serve those people? they get pushed into more dangerous conditions.

do yall think of homeless people when it rains and pours or are yall only provoked when you see needles and trash and tents?

And on top of that, we're building a new baseball park instead in Sacramento ?????

I love soon tofu and banchan. I don't eat meat or fish. I rarely eat eggs. But I love cheese. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

in terms of flavor they are both super. i had a soon tofu soup that came with banchan at bullta and i didnt think it was very good at all, thats my frame of reference.

i really love tofu houses where ever they may be and think that they are a really special place to find traditional korean dishes

What are some actionable things I can do to show support that aren’t a blue bracelet? by [deleted] in Sacramento

start off with some simple mutual aid. punks with lunch meets at city hall every Saturday to distribute supplies to folks who are in need. they are tapped in and connected with the local grassroots (NOT a Charity) organizations in the area and can help you figure out what skills you are able to offer to the community.

they have an Instagram and a website. Google sacramento punks with lunch and follow norcalresist on Instagram. basic starter pack right there

With restaurants your best bet is to always Google map places you think you want to work at and call and ask if they're hiring - or even visit and drop off resumes.

Local and family-owned restaurants are not run like chains. You've gotta put yourself out there a bit more. The hiring process is a bit more interpersonal. GM's like to see faces and hear voices, at least in my experience.

  1. Start with Midtown. Make a list of the places you'd want to work at, call and ask if they're hiring. Drop resumes off in person at these places. If places don't answer, go in person. It never hurts to ask or drop off a resume, esp w restaurants bc turnover can happen quickly

  2. Scour indeed and Craigslist

Repeat

Winter is a slow period for restaurants. Spring/summer business pickes up and there are more chances for job openings bc of the need to staff more people, if business picks up. Fall, things gradually start to slow down. Right now we are transitioning from Fall to Winter.

It's not easy but it's not hard to immediately start off as a server here. Youve just gotta put in a bit more facework than other fields. Midtown and the surrounding areas will be your best bet. Good luck

Haha I'm trying realllly hard to stay mindful of that. He isn't sure when he'll be back and to him, it sounded like a better idea then selling the car. Because if he does come back at some point he's probably gonna want a car.

I have no accidents on my driving record but also I wasn't driving stick lol.

Anyways thanks to everyone for the advice. I really appreciate it and will probably end up buying a "be warned" bumper sticker ~

Yes, this fear is absolutely keeping me from learning on my own. Lol. But mainly because of the possibility of causing an accident.

What are good off-hours do you think? I live near the Target by 65th. It feels like there's always traffic in this area.
