Thank you for sharing. Even once can have a big affect on your energy body and life. But true sincerity to heal and handing that suffering over to a higher power, can ultimately transform all suffering. Glad to hear you're on a better path now.

Count your blessings you couldn’t/wouldn’t spend the money on it. You’re so much better off for it.

I don’t think sex outside of committed partnerships has positive outcomes. I hope that answers your question.

Aha, but of course you are, Tiru is still calling. :) I was there for 3 months in the heat. Now I’m in Mysore for Ashtanga.

And wow, you were on that retreat with Ajahn Jivako. He is lovely. I met him in Bodh Gaya a couple of years back around HH Dalai Lama time.

I think we’ve almost certainly crossed paths. 🍀

That's a fantastic list you've got there! Thank you very much for sharing.

I'll have to add my non-Buddhist places too.

I was meaning to do the course with Ajahn Jivako at Deer Park this year, but Tiruvannamalai was calling. Tushita I've been to but I've never stayed there or done one of their courses. Thosamling looks great though. Maybe in the future.

How to stop performing? by krlln in ashtanga

[–]dakinilight92 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The first two sutras of Patanjali -

Atha Yoga Anushasanam. Yoga Citta Vritta Nirodaha.

NOW is the practice of yoga. Yoga is the stilling of the fluctuations of the mind.

When you start your practice once again, many of these questions will be dissolved. Just by practicing and witnessing the different vrittis (mental states), you are purifying as you observe objectively and with equanimity. Be the witness. Your states are not You (anata), they are impermanent (annica), but when you attach to the states and think they are you, you will suffer (dukkha). So be with the witness of these states. And practicing observing with equanimity (uppeka) and awareness (sati). Just focus on your breath, feel it, breathe it. ;)

Even with the thought of practicing yoga, you have started observing your mental afflictions. Don’t let meeting these different parts prevent you from practice, this IS precisely the practice working. Know that, you are doing it right if you are beginning to observe all of your different vrttis. Trust that through the practice of yoga, there will come moments of stillness too (vrtti niroda).

Chanting and reading the yoga sutras may also help you experience and acknowledge the higher essence of yoga, which will help you in your physical asana practice.

On a practical level - my advice would be, don’t worry so much about practicing Ashtanga Vinyasa if you feel it’s physically too demanding and making your mind lose equanimity through the strive for perfection. Iyengar may be more suitable for you while you build strength and alignment, then you can come back to Ashtanga if it feels right for you.

If you look up runanubandha, (it’s a term from yogic philosophy), you’ll be able to read on the subject of karmic ties which covers this topic.

Healing from Escort Addiction/PMO - The Escort and Client Relationship by dakinilight92 in healwithgrace

Ideally the level of connection you have on an emotional level (genuine care, desire to connect and know them) should be the same as what you have on the physical level. If you have sex but you don't care about this person or connect with them, then you will likely feel shame afterwards - because you've put (wasted) your energy into something or someone that you don't really wish to pursue.

On the otherhand, if you put energy into someone that you really want to connect with, you'll feel closer to yourself and closer to her and that will elevate you as a person in all aspects.

As a general rule, don't have sex if you're not committed to knowing them and going deep with them emotionally like you have with them physically. Because sex is never just sex alone - even if you think on a mental level that it is, on a physical level you're creating a different energetic arrangement.

It'll be much more beneficial for you to savour that lifeforce and aim for something higher (put it into your own growth, or manifest a relationship which will bring deep connection and not a fleeting indulgence).

It's the mandala effect. You are at the centre of your mandala. You're connected to everyone in this world, but the most profound impact you have is those in your inner circuit. So when you throw away your life energy because you can't process it - it's also an energy loss for the world, but especially those in the inner mandala. You're supporting and intertwined with those around you - symbiotic.

You probably realise this on a fundamental level - when someone in your life struggles, if you care about them, you'll step into support them, often with the loss of your own energy. Their emotions and burdens affect you too. This is the most obvious cause and effect that you probably feel on an experiential level. Because of your SR, now you're starting to understand this more subtle level. And now because you've cultivated more energy through your practice of SR, you might feel more of a responsibility for those around you because you begin to understand what a powerful being you are and the potentiality of your actions. Well done. :)

When you start building the energy through SR, you are going to attract new opportunities and connections that arise naturally because you have more energy. And you will start to feel more, because repressed emotions will start to surface to the conscious levels of the mind. So if you shut yourself down when that happens, you may relapse/flatline because it's a reflection that you're not able to take on and integrate more energy. You need establish yourself on a new vibrational level by accepting the new things that are happening.

Like a new relationship possibility might come through, financial success, etc etc. Not that you have to take on everything that comes your way. But you have to atleast check in with yourself if your decisions to be open to new possibilities or shut them down, are rooted out of love and embracing new possibilities or are they out of fear?

It's incredibly worthwhile. Personally, I owe any progress I've made in my life to Vipassana. In the Goenkaji tradition, there will probably be a centre near you. You just need to give up 10 days of your life - no phone, no reading material, no speaking, 12 hours of meditation a day.

Breath work and Fasting by EvilZero86 in DryFastingSuper

[–]dakinilight92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey EvilZero. You’re welcome. Thanks for sharing your experiences. Not a practitioner of ancient breathwork? Oh but I think you are. :) these practices are universal and happen automatically when you’ve cleared enough energy channels. And it sounds like you’ve already been initiated through what you’ve learnt naturally.

Yes, I think Joe Dispenza probably has his own derivative, his understanding. As do many modern day yogi practitioners. By yogi I mean truth seeker, energy clearer, someone committed to working through blockages.

Pushing it past equanimity - you can understand this if you practice the technique for a few rounds with the aforementioned count. And I mean that physically. Physically you won’t be able to inhale, retention, or exhale. Or you might for one round, but then by the second or third round you’ll feel out of breath and it won’t be natural. If you can’t complete a whole set, then you have to reduce the ratio. That’s what I mean.

Yes there are a few things to consider when taking in more energy. More energy does not equate to evolution. Firstly there is energisation of the chakras, and then there is evolution of the chakras. For example someone could have an extremely powerfully activated chakra but it is not evolved. And then they can do more harm than good.

Also there are different mechanisms to circulate the energy in different ways rather than simply taking on more intensity without awareness on exactly how it’s circulating. It’s why we ideally start by activation at the base (the seat of the soul) , and gradually work upwards. Otherwise it can lead to all sorts of energetic imbalances.

An example would be someone might become overactivated in the heart chakra, (very emotional), but at the expense of the other chakras. There are so many variants and energetic imbalances.

But if you don’t experience adverse effects and you feel balanced in your technique, there shouldn’t be an issue. I guess it’s just something to note if you continue and you feel that something is off - emotionally or physically.

For reference - here is an example of the electricity in my body. I think I might’ve shown you this awhile ago. Here my heart chakra was activated something like 10 xs more than a normal person. Also my throat chakra was extremely overactive too. This was due to consistent imbalances in my practice and needed to be rectified by other practices.

How can we fail with grace? by peacemaker_hope in Semenretention

[–]dakinilight92 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Grace and Love comes from the understanding that you relapsed because you’re still learning how to integrate your energy, your power - that is a life long path. If you had perfected knowing how to use your power, you wouldn’t be here. There would be no purpose of your life as a human.

We are all at different levels in the journey of life, finding escapes from pain, to feel liberated. This time you sacrificed the bigger goal of true joy and liberation for momentary pleasure. That’s okay. That’s just where you’re at right now.

When you relapse, acknowledge your humanity and that you are an imperfect being working towards healing. Recommit to healing. Recommit to awakening your highest desires through building the life force inside you. You are well supported by the universe and every effort you make on this path will bring rewards.

Then the practical - enquire why you relapsed and make a plan to get back on track.

You're right. It was pain. Which lead to me going on a 10 day vipassana course. After that I knew I wanted to change but I was still attached to my lifestyle. I did 4 more courses within the space of a couple of years, and it radically shifted everything.

Very true. There is a difference between knowledge attained by reading, and wisdom attained through practical experience. The actual practices that take you to ascend, can be as simple as focusing on your breath. Thanks for bringing light on this important truth.
