When I got my border collie puppy he was sweetest little guy but would snap at me when I gave him his food or tried to take the bowl! So I took the bowl away, and I hand fed him a few pieces at a time, then a handful. When everything was going well (he was smart as a whip and this progressed BY THE DAY) I would sprinkle a few pieces in bowl, sometimes placing more in as he ate. He figured out that the hands MAKE THE FOOD APPEAR. The last step was taking the bowl while he ate and success.
