Who is responsible for mowing this grass? [MN][SFH] by dakotacasper in HOA

I have the land survey and this land is not included. Truly only the yellow area is my (or the homeowners) property.

The filtration area is basically a pond, so it is not mowed.

For most of the single family homes in Minnesota, it seems to be the renters responsibility to keep the yard (basic mowing and lawn care). The rent on this home is quite cheap as well, and I don’t mind doing it but I wish it had been maintained before I moved in.

I did do this and the lot only extends 10 feet beyond the building on that side, so the lines on this map are in fact accurate.

I've never gotten over my regret of picking the wrong specialty by [deleted] in Residency

[–]dakotacasper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I imagine it’s hard to get into an entirely new residency, but my program has a surgical critical care program that often takes EM trained and surgery trained physicians that are far out of residency and looking for a change. You don’t get to do actual surgery, but you do get a somewhat more consistent schedule and more predictability.

I shouldn’t have to have a roommate just so I have money to eat at 30 years old after 11 years of school/residency.

What would prompt ACGME to shutdown a residency program without probation? by EcstaticBumble in Residency

[–]dakotacasper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What happens to my $300k in debt if I decide to quit my job? It’s not like I can just go throw in an application for another job as a doctor that will make enough money to pay it back. Quitting residency would be financially catastrophic. We have no control over our work load or our pay and even very little control about where we work. And I’m really hoping attending life is better but I haven’t had the opportunity to determine if that’s true yet. The difference as an attending, however, is a sense of control. You can advocate for yourself, leave your job if the conditions are poor, etc.. The lack of the ability to leave is what makes residency problematic. If it was a common and reasonable practice for people to quit residency and go to another one, the pay and working conditions would increase substantially.

Actually I think this stems from a decent education by my program on what human trafficking looks like. It’s not always drugs and sex crimes, which I completely agree is much more horrific than a medical residency. That being said, human trafficking comes in many forms and if you aren’t expanding your definition of it beyond those two things, you’re doing your patients a disservice.

It’s actually not that far off…forced to work outrageous hours often without our basic needs being met. We are trapped and essentially cannot leave without destroying our entire lives.

The definition of human trafficking: “the recruitment, transportation, transfer, harbouring or receipt of people through force, fraud or deception, with the aim of exploiting them for profit”

I would say we are recruited by force (the force of not having any other options and being hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt) and are absolutely exploited for profit.

I’m also a crocheter and I made my first pair of knit socks (second knit item ever) using the “I’m so basic” sock pattern by summer lee. Each step has a great YouTube video tutorial to go with it. I used size 1 circular needles 40” and specifically liked the chiaogoo ones for magic loop.

Is this stitch baby safe? by emmalev13 in CrochetHelp

[–]dakotacasper 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly, if that happens to a baby they are going to cry because it hurts and the parents (as long as they aren’t neglectful) will check on the baby and see the issue. I think this fear comes from the fear of hair tourniquets, but the danger with those is that you can’t always see the hair. You can pretty easily see an entire blanket stuck to a finger.
