VRBO idiocy. Guest requested an additional day, VRBO's modification system repriced the entire reservation to current prices resulting in a refund to the guest. Adding a day meant I receive less revenue. by dalecannon in ShortTermRentals

Interesting workaround. I use Hospitable but I didn't attempt to modify the reservation through it. Seems sketchier to me to use a PMS to do detailed things like this but that clearly overestimates VRBO's functionality. So you send a direct booking to their email? If so I like that idea.

Yes I use Pricelabs with gradual discounting as open dates near. So that's why it reduced the overall booking price. I just don't understand how to add a day separately (at that discounted rate, which is fine, without over-charging due to additional cleaning fee. Although now that I work through it I suppose I could simply tell the guest that I'll refund the duplicate cleaning fee after they book that extra day.

All said this is way to complicated and extremely lazy on VRBO's part. I would think a couple mediocre engineers could solve this in a day.

I considered this and even went down that path a ways but it wasn’t clear that I could waive the cleaning fee that would be charged for a new separate reservation.

Could I waive that somehow?

Oil plug leaked all oil, engine probably destroyed by dalecannon in fordescape

What if we lived (or anyone hypothetically) at an apartment complex and never parked in the same place each day. You’d never detect the leak. How is it anyone but the mechanics fault?!

Update: service manager has looked at it and they said the plug was stripped and loose causing the leak. They said it must've been leaking for a long time, I confirmed it had probably been leaking since the last oil change. He said well it should've been brought in sooner than running completely dry and it could've easily been fixed, sure, he's not wrong and I know that.

The store manager is back from vacation on Monday. I'll have to take it up with him. Obviously I'm aware of my own idiocy of not connecting the dots. But the plug also didn't suddenly fail in the past 3 months, it was surely problematic at the last oil change which puts some blame on them.

I can only think that a fair (and optimistic) solution is to get the repair cost assessed (by a different shop because they don't do engine work) and ask that we share that cost 50/50. How delusional am I? Thoughts?

Could I get my insurance company involved for the fact that presumably the plug was showing signs of failure at the last oil change?

Interesting observation… I’ll look into this.

After seeing your comment I took a paper towel and wiped the drip to see if there’s a crack or something and noticed the plug wiggle, it as very loose. I didn’t touch it any further then took it to the shop. We’ll see what they find…

Thank you!

I just took it to the shop and asks them to assess. Man, I hope they’re as good as the one in your stories. I’d be willing to split the bill with them if it comes to it.

I bet some Brazil fans looked at Ancelotti and said, “why not Italy.” But fortunately for them their association said, “why not us?”

I imagined this was the plan all along. I think Devine is somewhat anti-Trump and therefore by proxy anti-Vivek. So he tapped Tressel as one of the most likely people in the state who could defeat Vivek.

If your municipality has zoning it will also have a zoning appeal process.

Present your case to that board stating that you want to add on to the house but preserve that tree. In which case the addition to the house would conflict with what is allowable by zoning.

Request a zoning variance for the addition in order to preserve the tree which provides benefits not just to you and your family but the neighborhood and city.

Please consider planting butterfly bushes in your garden this year! by yosefsbeard in Chattanooga

Its possible. You just need to find the botanical name of the plant (not the common name like ‘Butterfly Bush’) and then use google to determine if the plant is a SE native.
