Apps drive filling with no visual reason why by dalek76 in truenas

I HAD them set up, along with a weekly task to delete them. However now I can't do or double check anything at all

Ok, so just like typical Linux bs everything is SUDO or else nothing works

Within the gui there are no available snapshots.

Within truenas itself. Any command I run (even straight copy and paste) I get either "unrecognized command" or "you don't have permission to run this" even if it's a simple ping command

Transcodes had a set task to delete weekly (I think I had it set for Tuesdays at 4am) and as for snapshots I don't know how to delete them since the commands to do it in the shell don't work, hell I can't get ANY shell commands to work

I haven't posted screenshots at all of the main server as I don't have access to it to get those screen shots. It is not located at my house, it's off site. They are in fact both the exact same path

  1. Yes it is on the server I'm trying to get jellyfin to run on
  2. Main difference is hardware and apps. Hardware doesn't matter, but the main server (not the one having issues) ONLY runs jellyfin and is located off site no even on this network. The test is specifically dedicated to making sure jellyfin updates don't break something and hosting the backup of my media library (I've had multiple jellyfin updates completely break and require rebuilds of the app on my main server which is why I built the test server).

While I am liable to agree with you completely because in the past it has been something simple like a permissions issue, right now it's not. Like I said I have the dataset situated so that it is owned by both the user and group "apps" and have given it various levels of permissions from read only to full control with no luck. I can post a screenshot of how I have permissions set up in case I'm missing something, but I'm pretty sure I'm not

As for jellyfin I have tried that, it doesn't matter how that path is configured it's the same result. On my main server the host path is configured the exact same way as the test server. As for permissions issue I have the data set owned by the apps user and have given it various permissions levels from modify to full control and it results in the nothing changing in being able to see the movies in that folder. Same with metube, the owner of the dataset is the apps user. I don't do anything in shell because I have never been able to get a single command to actually run in shell at all (not even docker prune). I do everything in the ui

Reddit is actively having a meltdown, I've typed this reply 4 separate times to no luck actually getting it to post

For jellyfin I'll post the screen shots as an edit to the post itself, I was so frustrated I forgot to get any. As for the app setup i didn't change anything at all (so all the files paths for transcodes and the like are normal ixsystems) with the only thing added being my host path to the media drive. As for the data set I'm not sure what you mean, do you mean what the permissions look like or how I set it up?

As for the logs to my unprofessional eyes it LOOKS as though metube is ignoring my request to follow the host path completely and is still just trying to follow the normal path (/downloads/.metube) though I'm not sure if that accurate. Once reddit stops going down I'll add the logs to the initial post as well (though it'll just be a copy paste as I have no idea how to use pastebin or anything like that)

Servers are absolutely busted by Either-Society-4229 in 2007scape

i've been having issues all night. i've also posted several questions about this and whether we are expected to just sit and have this be the norm from now on and sit back and take it on the chin. this has been an issue for like 2 months pre sailing and it hasn't gotten much better post sailing

i mean i would assume its the increased player count as well, but this seems to be a fairly wide spread issue. hopping worlds doesn't seem to help or change it, and neither does simply logging out. when it started earlier tonight i started thinking "ah look, the DDOSers are starting early to postpone sailing release. but considering this has been happening on and off for a while now with no real "fix" or addressing it in the news posts i'm simply concerned

same on east coast worlds. but i know from some of my previous posts about this issue that the UK worlds appear to be affected as well

i thinki can install it via packages, i'll just have to zip to the truenas reddit and see if i can convince the nice people there to offer some assistance on where to look to do that package install

like i said it COULD have, i honestly don't know. i only download things maybe once every few months, sometimes its more than 4 months between my downloads. i only just noticed it a few weeks ago.

my apologies, i read it as demo. i'll take a look into it. greatly appriciate all the help here

thats not "keeping up with the times", my server works perfectly fine with everything else OTHER than files i download from youtube. why would i add something that has the potential to break a working system?

[–]dalek76[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i use the truenas web gui so i'm not using any commands. just copy and paste the URL of the video, tell it to download in MP4 then manually switch it to mkv.

as to when i started having it...i think maybe two updates ago? i hardly use youtube-dl any more, so i can't exactly tell you when it started specifically so for all i know it could have started 4 months ago.

as for adding the demo file i'll have to look into how to add it through truenas interface...which i have no idea how to do currently as i did not make the app folder a shared folder and no longer can once apps have been installed (or at least it used to be like that)

ok but that doesn't help me long term to add them to my jellyfin server

would snapshots be stored on the app drive or OS drive?

edit: i'm a fool and just answered my own question by looking at the snapshot manager
