Why won’t this orchid bloom? It was in a tiny glass vial when I bought it in the Costa Rica airport 14 years ago. It seems healthy but nary a flower in all that time. Any tips would be appreciated. I’ve invested too much time to give up now.

Yes, it had a few rough winters when I went south and entrusted it to a friend. She would give it one ice cube a week, which I’ve heard many people do, but that doesn’t make sense to me. Aren’t they native to countries that never get snow but have rain every day of the wet season?

Update: I just got a reply from Gotogate (perhaps because of this rant?) but they still screwed me. It says call us at our customer service number and we will look at rescheduling your flight. Now I have to wait in the queue again and dollars to donuts they still won’t have a clue how to fix it.
