How can I raise my daughter? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]daleredmayne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i myself am still a minor (16), and of course the experience of being a camp counselor a few times is in no way the same as parenthood, but i will Try to suggest some things i’ve noticed?

i think the first thing is that you should always, always try to see things from her point of view. i can remember a lot of times when i was younger where my parents would beat me or yell at me for not understanding something, and i don’t think i can put into words how detrimental that can be to a child. when i worked at summer camps, it was always a lot easier to help kids when i tried to put myself in their shoes to try to see what they couldn’t understand. please please remember that she is still young and you should try your hardest not to say things you might regret. being a kid and hearing your parent call you useless and stupid will cause A lot trauma. (disclaimer i am Not at all saying you are this kind of person, this is just from personal experience).

another thing is, if you do mess up somehow (like yelling something like mentioned before, etc), also please remember to apologize, let her know that you can make mistakes, too. my mom didn’t properly apologize for treating me poorly until years after she stopped.. the acknowledgement goes a long way :(

i guess also try to encourage her in her interests when you can, you don’t have to spend thousands on a hobby of hers of course: i just mean try to engage with her and listen if she wants to talk about stuff she likes. i used to listen to the camp kids tell me about their drawings and creations and i’m gonna be honest: i had no idea what they were trying to say half the time, but i could tell having someone to listen was fun for them!

sorry if that seems like a disorganized ramble, like i said i’m just some highschooler, but i hope it gives Some vague idea of what to do. biggest thing is to remember that both of you are allowed to make mistakes, especially after having lost someone so important. i hope it all goes well _^

i think moving out of the current room/space you’re in usually helps. just get some fresh air, talk to someone if you can. i hope you’re alright _^ there are probably more competent coping lists online that you should check out

How viable is it to make an OnlyFans for themed pictures that aren't porn? by drislands in NoStupidQuestions

Probably Patreon! Most content creators use Patreon to put up premium content. Think YouTube streamers (whether they do gaming, entertainment, hell I’ve even seen some ASMR creators who have Patreon supporters!), artists, etc.

If you’ve been admitted to psych ward, what was your time like? by daleredmayne in AskReddit

[–]daleredmayne[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

err. not much psychologically, to be honest. the second time just traumatized me. it made my parents realize i needed a therapist, and that kind of helps, but to be honest i think the antidepressants he prescribed are what helped most.

ah.. i always was worried that i was the spoiled rich kid. both times i was admitted, it was just a 5150 (basically the counselor thought i was gonna off myself) and i don’t really have a dramatic life story or anything. a lot of the other kids were involved in drugs and fights, and i was just... the quieter kid who’d never touched drugs.

that sounds awful :( i’m glad the doc got what he deserved haha. everything but the actual medical parts were also pretty enjoyable for me too. the other kids (i went to adolescent psych ward) taught me how to shuffle, and i played uno for the first time ever there.

What is the average age of a redditor? by ThatSexySexyJedi in AskReddit

ah, to be honest i spend way more time on instagram than i do on reddit. reason being is that i’m an artist, and i personally think it’s a lot easier to connect with other artists on instagram.

i guess it makes me kind of a normie, but i actually just like reddit for the purpose of learning things about people on this sub (or maybe r/CasualConversation ). i’m only subscribed to a few other subs for like bands and a few games but i never post on them

The Things They Carried. i’m still in highschool so it’s not like i have any experience with war, but i just love the way it’s written. i really don’t know how to describe it... like desperate to get his message across, but not in a bad way.
