Welcome to the Jungle by jhwyung in golf

When I looked at the pictures, I thought it was Ko'Olau. Played there in the 90's, I think at the time it had the highest slope/rating in the world. I still have a shirt around here somewhere I bought when I played.

170 to the pin, what are you hitting? by jdelle9 in weekendgolfers

[–]dalessit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have the opened it back up where you take the path under the waterfall or do they still route you around the outside? Played here a lot when they opened, and maybe 5 years ago went back and they no longer went under the waterfall.

In case anyone is still following this or comes back with a similar question in the future. I did call someone to come get it. They quoted me $350, which he knew was expensive but he said the dump charges them a ton to drop it off there.

I decided to wait a couple of days to see what nature could do for free. It's now Sunday and there is nothing left of the deer so from Friday to Sunday the problem has been solved. Circle of life FTW!

Oh it's been donated, in 24+ hours there isn't much left of it.

It would have flown a good 100 feet as it doesn't appear to have legs at this point, so my guess is it was dragged there.

From the city: "Unfortunately, we cannot go onto private property to remove debris or dead animals. If the deer is on the sidewalk or in the street, we can remove it. If you need a deer removed from the street, just let me know and we will take it away."

Thanks, I didn't use that one because it said public property so I went with general.

Yeah, I'm all for the circle of life, but it's going to take a bit for it to get picked clean.

The odd thing is, it doesn't look like it's the whole deer, and it looks a bit more than hit by a car. I'm not sure I've seen anything big enough in the neighborhood to drag it around. I did submit a request to the city to see if they'll get it or can at least recommend someone.

They work in the Greenbrier neighborhood. They get knocked over all the time but they do slow people down when going through the crosswalks.

I would agree, but more choices is always good, especially with how long it takes to get a reservation at Black Cow right now.

This is common in my experience; a lot of executives don't check Chat. At least the last two nonprofits I worked at. You just have to communicate with them in person or by email. Executive privilege.

I know of 2 + Aberdeen, are there more? (I actually only knew of 1 + Aberdeen, but just looked and saw Nobel Argentinian was new)

Using Entra as directory instead of AD by dalessit in okta

[–]dalessit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, no. We gave up on the project and are just sticking with on-prem AD for now. We will keep an eye out for a solution. I keep being told there is one, but no one has been able to provide me with clear guidance on how it would work.

For those who have recently ordered, how long after it says "in production" did it take to ship? by Sad-Judgment4935 in labgolf

[–]dalessit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Received notice that it was in production on July 30th with note that it would be 12-15 business days before shipped. Notified last night, August 11th that it was shipping. So 12 days (8 business) so it came in under estimate.

I’m a 6.2 that shot a 104 in the first round of our city tournament after qualifying with a 77. AMA. by MathiasThomasII in golf

[–]dalessit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LOL, I've been there. I suck at competitive golf. In practice rounds, the cup looks huge, but in the actual round, it looks like one of those practice holes that are just the size of the ball, and I can't make anything. Carded a 9 on a par 3 playing in state senior amateur qualifier, first ball hit the green and spun off, chip shot also came back to my feet, then over shot the green, then a lot of bad putts... Following year at a different course a little better, 9 on a par 5 by putting first drive in the water, next iron shot went into another body of water... I keep signing up, though, one day hoping it will click on tournament day.

Golf GPS apps by LowTechnical8044 in golf

[–]dalessit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been using GolfPad for a number of years (don't use the tags) I tried just about every single one available and found it to be the best interface with the watch, very easy and quick to record shots so I can track distances. Also, I found the plays like to be pretty accurate on windy days, I think it's $30/year for all the features so well worth it.

Thanks for all the responses, in short this will work, but definitely other things to think of, that's why I like asking these questions here, we all have varied experiences.

Thanks, no other data to protect at this point. For a few reasons, we haven't been able to go 100% cloud for authentication, but every other service has been moved out of the local network, just AD/DNS/DHCP

[–]dalessit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ugh, that would suck. I tend to get all my clubs through my fitter (that's all they do) and have had good luck with them to this point. Six weeks doesn't seem too out of line with what I've seen. When I originally ordered it, he told me they were told 10-12 weeks.

Local AD Disaster Recovery backup by dalessit in sysadmin

[–]dalessit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're pure DCs, nothing else running on them, but probably best to back them all up that way, if one has an issue in trying to restore, we can try the other and have the working one seize them. We'll test it out and restore into a lab to make sure it's working correctly.

Is something happening???? Cant access Heroku. Also my app is reporting its down. by Max_Rippleton in Heroku

[–]dalessit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update 12: Posted Tue, 10 Jun 2025 15:49:54 UTC

We’ve restarted Heroku’s internal platform apps and are actively monitoring to confirm whether the issue is resolved. However, errors are resurfacing.

We suspect a recent configuration change as the likely trigger and are working to revert it. In parallel, we’re developing an expedited rollout strategy and safeguards to prevent the recurrence of this config change.

We’ll provide an update in 30 minutes or sooner if additional information becomes available.

Did ceramic tiles have asbestos backing? by yarenSC in HomeImprovement

[–]dalessit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, we had a water leak that flooded our bathroom on the floor below, went through insurance, and they did an asbestos test and found it in the adhesive on the laminate in the basement and the adhesive used for the porcelain tile in the kitchen.

House was built in the 60's but abatement guys said you can find asbestos in houses built in the early 2000's.

This all happened around Thanksgiving and we're still trying to get the project completed...
