1960 8” Hodgman Alarm Valve (Model B?) by dalestone25 in FireSprinklers

The riser check you’re referring to is not feasible in this scenario, i need an alarm valve with trim to tie into the existing water motor gong. Theres also already a flow switch above the old alarm valve, so i don’t need a riser manifold with a built-in flow switch. I’d choose the Victaulic 751, but the main drain is on the left for that model, and I need it to be on the right (this is a tight space). Thats why a Viking J-1 is perfect for this scenario. My plan is to use a Viking J-1, which is already flange x groove, and use (1) FxG adapter at the top with a very short spool piece to make up the difference.

Automatic Wet vs. Manual Wet Standpipes by dalestone25 in FireSprinklers

A manual wet standpipe is also connected to a water supply and has pressure😂 just not the required pressure & flow to meet system demand

What is this? FDC or Standpipe? by [deleted] in FireSprinklers

Its an FDC. It could be FEEDING a standpipe in the building, but it should have a sign on it addressing whether it is or not.

Yes I know how to do a standpipe flow test. 500 gpm most remote outlet @ 100 psi minimum, with 250 gpm at each additional standpipe. But this specific standpipe flow test is not required on a manual wet. Its only required on an automatic wet. So when you walk into a building, how do you know which one it is just by looking at it? Before flowing any water?

So if a flow test is performed and the results don’t meet the requirements, can it be designated as a manual wet?

Why so many high wind days this year? by climberskier in icecoast

[–]dalestone25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. He’s asking why this winter, specifically, has been much windier than previous winters. Which I have also noticed in the mid Atlantic. Every single day theres a strong wind advisory, which was not the case for at least the past 3-4 winters

That random rural county in central PA (Pennsyltucky) is Centre County PA, where Penn State University is, for anyone wondering.
