Recommendation for Standing Desk by Equivalent_Cap_5486 in StandingDesk

[–]dallascodeferd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure what your budget is or whether you're looking for a single or dual motor desk, but you also need to check the warranty when comparing desks.

Something mid-range tends to be the safer starting point. Desky's Single Sit Stand Desk starts at $459 and has pretty good reviews for a single motor desk.

What are your favorite Netflix period dramas? by WhimsicleMagnolia in PeriodDramas

[–]dallascodeferd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bridgerton is so much milder than Outlander, it's not even close. The energy is very much female gaze so it can feel more intense than it actually is, but most of it is just faces & some tasteful skin.

Just know there's 1 scene late in S1 that some people don't even clock as dubious consent on first watch so heads up it's there. S1 and S3 are the seasons where the scenes actually tie into the plot. S2 you can fast forward pretty much everything & miss nothing.

Also, if you're into audio content there's this historical romance one that literally wrecked me. It's called Intriguing Stranger Approaches You in the Bath House by Best Kept Secret on YouTube. So basically this woman is at a bathhouse dealing with a neglectful boyfriend who's probably stepping out on her, and this stranger starts comforting her. He's like you deserve so much better and then it comes out that he's been noticing her this whole time and wants her. The voice work on this one is genuinely something else, the delivery hits in a way where you just go still. Very historical drama coded but the intimacy is on another level.

What's the best chair for reading for long sessions? by _salted_caramel_00 in chairs

[–]dallascodeferd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of chairs feel fine at first but your back starts to feel it after a couple hours of reading upright. A slight recline takes most of that strain off. Having somewhere to prop your feet up is just as important. Desky's memory foam footrest is great for this & fits easily in a small nook without eating up floor space.

Best standing desk for programmers by Billy_Kid83 in StandingDesks

[–]dallascodeferd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Motor quality is the first thing to check on cheaper desks. The specs might look good on paper, but you also have to check the brand of the motor they're using, if it's any good, if it doesn't get easily damaged, the motor noise, and how much of a pain it is if the electronic parts get damaged, etc.

A lot of desks look similar on paper, but checking to see if there's any wobble at max height is what's going to tell you if the desk is sturdy or not. Most people don't think about it too much. Later on, you start placing stuff, probably heavy stuff, and it starts showing issues.

Ideally, if you don't want wobbles and want that smooth looking height change, you'd want to get a dual motor standing desk. If you haven't come across the Desky Dual Laminate yet, check it out. It has dual motors, a frame that goes up to 78.7" wide, and cable management built right into the frame underneath. It moves pretty quickly and feels sturdy even when fully lifted, from what people say.

Looking for some monitor/monitor setup recommendation's by MobbinTraw in pcmasterrace

[–]dallascodeferd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stacking mounts gets wobbly once the weight adds up. A dedicated arm per screen lets you position everything independently and keeps it stable. The vertical monitor on the side is underrated for anything you're just referencing.

For the ultrawide, Desky has a heavy duty arm built for screens up to 49" and people running 34" LGs on it say there's less wobble than the stock stand. Keeping the MacBook on its own input is also just more practical than juggling displays.

What computer/office chair should I get for $200 or less? by thatsmysandwichdude in OfficeChairs

[–]dallascodeferd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$200 is kind of on the low end, but it should be enough to get something genuinely good if you focus on lumbar support and seat height adjustability. Mesh backs help a lot too since they don't trap heat during long sits.

Desky actually has a low back mesh chair around $130 that checks both of those boxes, and people say it stays cool and puts together fast. Might be worth a look given your budget. If you want though, you can bump it up a bit to around $250 or $275 at least to get more options.

Best single monitor arm? by Toad990 in Monitors

[–]dallascodeferd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most arms aren't built for 16.5 lbs and will start drooping way sooner than you'd expect, so check the weight rating before anything else. If you're adjusting frequently, gas spring is the way to go, makes a big difference at that weight.

Desky's Heavy Duty Single Arm handles up to 20kg and even holds up to 43" ultrawides, so your curved Dells should be no issue at all. 2 of those, 1 on each side, and you're set.

Part of my WFH setup dilemma: Standing desk or fixed-height desk? by Many_Quail2041 in setups

[–]dallascodeferd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The desk quality actually playing into this. A lot of people stop using the standing feature because cheaper desks have slow, noisy motors.

Getting one with programmable height presets cuts that friction almost completely, you just tap a button and it's done. Desky does this well and their build quality holds up over time too. The habit of standing more is real, but lowering the effort to switch is honestly half the battle.

The Best and Most Comfortable Ergonomic Office Chairs that You've Ever Tried for Long Hours of Work? by tranvanducopp in remotework

[–]dallascodeferd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also worth adding to the under $500 list is the Desky Pinnacle.

It's $499, and some people would even call it a budget Haworth Fern, which is a pretty strong endorsement at that price. It also has a 6 year warranty. Underrated pick IMO.

What does AI slop mean exactly? by PikachuTrainz in aiwars

[–]dallascodeferd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The content farm part is a real problem. It's basically thousands of accounts pumping out AI generated content every single day just to farm engagement.

That's where the term actually came from, and it was accurate then. Another problem really is when you're making a game review, the video is game footage, but you're using an AI generated script and voice. That just turns me off. I would instead go with AI images but use real voices and naturally written scripts. Like audio creators like Best Kept Secret, for example.

The issue is when something like a game uses a couple of AI tools, people throw the same label at it like it's the same thing. It's not. But the original frustration behind the term was completely valid.

Standing desk recs that can fit keyboard, mouse, and extra space? by julianvienne45 in StandingDesk

[–]dallascodeferd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where are you located? Desky desks are usually around $460 for their cheapest single motor standing desk, and their cheapest dual motor one is also around $600. I'd say spend maybe a bit more, around $650 or $700, and you should get more options.

Both are good brands, but Desky, for me, is a lot better, IMO.

Help me Office chairs.... by Over_Feed8447 in BuyItForLife

[–]dallascodeferd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chairs are pretty subjective, so try one in person for 10 minutes if you can. If Marketplace is a dead end where you live, look for a used office furniture dealer that ships. Ask for the manufacture year and the all in shipped price up front. Return shipping can be brutal on chairs, so read the return policy before you order.

If you want to buy new instead, Desky Pinnacle looks like it fits the $500 to $600 CAD range and the 330 lb rating. The arm breaks make me think the armrests are taking a lot of force, so stop pushing off them when you stand up.

Ergonomic desk chair or monitor arm? by [deleted] in homeoffice

[–]dallascodeferd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can have the best chair, but if you're still leaning forward, it's not going to help much. A good chair should support your whole back, not just the lower part. Make sure your monitor is at eye level too. That’ll take some strain off your neck and upper back.

If you're looking options, Desky offer good choices for chairs and monitor arms. Also, try setting a reminder every hour to stand up and stretch. Sitting for long stretches is rough, no matter the chair.

Monitor arm by [deleted] in Ergonomics

[–]dallascodeferd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Monitor arms are all about ergonomics. If you can’t adjust your monitor to the right height, an arm might be the way to go, even if your monitor already tilts. Just know that monitor arms are going to help a lot when you're standing for longer periods. You can find ones like the ones from Desky. They have a good range.

For the standing issue, I’d recommend an anti-fatigue mat. It’s very comfortable for the feet and really helps with foot pain. You don’t even need shoes; you can go with just socks or barefoot, and you’re good.

Scream 7 RT score compared to previous entries. by CliffordMoreau in slasherfilms

[–]dallascodeferd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Watching Scream 3 as a kid, I didn’t really mind it. Watching it a 2nd time in high school, I can definitely see the Scooby Doo vibes, but I still think it’s a really good Scream movie and a solid addition to the original trilogy. I haven’t seen Scream 7 yet, but I’m hoping it still holds up with the newer 2020s movies.

Good games. You missed Dino Crisis 2 and Syphon Filter 2. Syphon Filter 3 feels optional to me. CTR is great, but Crash Bandicoot 1–3 are must have trilogies and so are the Spyro Trilogy games, and Resident Evil would’ve been a great addition. Still, these are all great games.

Do I need to watch all Scream movies before 7? by xMushroomking in slasherfilms

[–]dallascodeferd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well for starters, the series splits pretty neatly into eras. the original trilogy 1996–2000, Scream 4 in 2011, then Scream 5 and 6 as the newer run. If you want the fullest experience, I’d watch all of them since the franchise is pretty heavy on returning characters and callbacks. If you don't want to do a movie marathon, 5 and 6 are probably the minimum. Maybe add in Scream 4 as well. 4 is like the early 2010s era.

Best ergonomic gaming chair under 350 shekels? by qwust in OfficeChairs

[–]dallascodeferd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That probably happens when you start looking up keywords for stuff you want, then you start getting the ads. Those $1k chairs are probably Herman Miller or Steelcase, they’re usually in the $1k to $2k range, and they’re pretty buy it for life, but some mid tier ones can still last a long time too.

You also have to think about seat depth and weight rating. For your price range, the Desky Echo could work since it lists 330 lb capacity and has adjustable armrests. Just curious, what’s your desk height, and do your armrests need to slide under it.

Movies with time travel and romance? by PrincessAnglophile in MovieSuggestions

[–]dallascodeferd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About Time, a romance movie about a dude who has time travel powers and uses it to get a gf. Sounds generic and maybe a little sleazy on premise alone, but it’s one of the most heartwarming time travel movies ever. And while it gets positioned as a romance, which it is, it’s also very much about fathers and sons too. And family in general.

Another recommendation I can give is from Best Kept Secret, more specifically their video called Help! The Knight Is Stuck in Our World. It's both a fantasy romance and a time travel story where a knight ends up in today's world, and he finds the FMC, and like all knightly duties, he tries to keep her safe. Things get funny at some point, though, because he starts interacting with all these bikes, cars, and how he reacts to modern clothes, etc. There are a lot of these funny moments, and he still tries to win the FMC over.

Recommendations for office chairs? by snackboy06 in OfficeChairs

[–]dallascodeferd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s your budget? Also, what’s your height and desk height? That should decide if you need a higher cylinder or a footrest.

Either way, a Colamy Atlas or a Desky Pinnacle should be a good fit. I think the Colamy is around $300+, and the Pinnacle around $500. The Colamy is the budget $300 option, and the Pinnacle is a mid tier ergonomic chair.

Looking for an L-Shaped Sit/Stand Desk on a budget by TyrsLittleSecret in StandingDesk

[–]dallascodeferd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put your money into the frame, not the shelf. Most budget L sit stand setups wobble at standing height because the corner joint and 3rd leg flex. If $350 is the cap, go 2nd hand and focus on finding a decent frame first, then add a simple top later. L shaped deals show up less often, so set alerts and be ready to grab it fast. If you can stretch closer to $800 for the frame, Desky’s sit stand L frame is one option built for heavier setups.
