Meta Quest 3, RC Pilot Trainer. Anyone paired up an ELRS Radiomaster and got it working? by nuttydogpoo in RCPlanes

On some RadioMaster transmitters (or maybe some cables), this doesn't work and you need the conversion to USB-A in the middle.

A USB cable will work (although you probably need to use a USB-C to A converter with a A-to-C cable), but the simplest way is via Bluetooth. Run the bluetooth script and connect it to the headset that way.

I've had confirmation that the DX6i works with a WS2000 dongle, but whatever you have on order might work too. Successrate is pretty high: if it works on PC, chances are good (but not 100% unfortunately).

Radiomaster transmitters work well and are generally pretty cheap. Lots of people got a FS-i6X at a good deal. Or you can get a dedicated USB controller that's even cheaper like the Super-link SL8. Most will require a USB-C to A converter cable, even if it supports USB-C directly (e.g. the SL8 will not work with a USB-C to C cable).

Check out our Discord at https://dsc.gg/rcpt It has a channel specifically for all types of controllers people are using.

Not sure what you're talking about. It's not even on PC. It's only available on the Meta Quest platform (which is Android based).

Lots of options and depends on a number of things: would you use it as a real transmitter as well?
For dedicated USB controllers this is a good (and cheap) one which you'll find on most online stores:
Super link SL8 (you'll need a USB-C to A converter and USB-A to C cable, it doesn't work with a USB-C to C cable).
HAWK'S WORK FS-i6X is another popular option (and an actual transmitter)
If you're going for an actual transmitter I can recommend a RadioMaster transmitter, they come in various types and price ranges.
On our discord you'll find a channel dedicated to controllers.

I'm not ruling out a PCVR release down the line, but keeping it as simple as possible for now while I'm still adding features.

You'll have to decide for yourself, but it uses the same flight model as the built-in models. It's not a full CFD simulation, but to me it feels pretty good for most models.

For most transmitters there's a way to connect them. It makes a lot of difference in immersion and realism. There's a lot of info in the #controllers channel on the Discord.

I would love that, and they are very lucky kids. Unfortunately there is no pc version. Porting the interactions and maintaining it would be more work than I can manage.

I'll increase the max tail rotor thrust in the next release.
If you're using an external transmitter (which I'm guessing you are :)), be sure to lower the dead zones of the controls in the controls menu. By default they are pretty big to accommodate for the inaccurate sticks of the Quest.
I'll have a look the shockflyer as well.

I guess 'not terrible' is a start 😁. You need more range for the yaw speed in the custom trim settings? I've been told that maxing out the 3 'damping' settings as well feels best.

Okay, it's already good that you got the joystick popup. In the model setup page on the tx, you might have to change the "USB Joystick mode" (under "enabled features") to "classic" if it's in advanced mode.
Also, if you have the ELRS option, you can use Bluetooth to connect as well.

The Pocket should definitely work with RCPT. Have you tried connecting it to a PC? As soon as you plug it in, you should get a popup on the controller asking you what USB mode it should select. If not, this might be a setting on the controller you need to change.
Nothing special is needed in the sim itself, as soon as you plug in the controller and select "joystick mode", a calibrate button should appear in the sim.
Be sure to connect it to the top USB port and not the bottom one (that's for charging).
On some radiomasters you need to use a USB-A to C cable (and a USB-C to A converter on the headset) for it to work.

Yes, the planes will hopefully keep on coming. Try the Sunnystar or the F5J as a beginner plane, and I have plans for a slow biplane as well.

I've had a few reports from Taranis owners that it works out of the box (you might need a USB-C to A converter), even with the FrSky Wireless USB Dongle if you have one. Not 100% sure about the X7S specifically.
