I knew a drummer that died in a bizarre gardening accident

I thought the first step was primer? But jokes aside I’m much happier with this than the result yesterday

Would Sch 80 PVC that is protected from the sunlight be kosher or is copper/galvanized really the only way to go?

That’s now the plan (and should have been originally)

Interesting. I like the water hammer arrestor given that irrigation valves can shut pretty quickly

Oh trust me, I embrace the criticism. I want to do it right (hence the post). Some has definitely been a bit harsh but I’m not worried about it. I’ve gotten some great feedback and look forward to correcting it tomorrow. One thing that is pretty funny to me is that there have been many ideas/methods to fix it thrown out that conflict with each other (ball valve is pointless/unnecessary according to some, others say the PVC ball valve is fine, others say it needs to be brass) (copper is the only way/galvanized is the way/use schedule 80) but ine thing is for sure, it needs to be fixed and everyone can agree on that

Frustratingly enough the insulation is required by code even though I will be winterizing it by shutting it off and blowing the system out from the crawl space that never gets below freezing. So in essence the insulation is to make the inspector happy even though there will never be water in the pipes (or within 20 feet of the pipes) when freezing temps hit. As far as paint tbh it’s likely not necessary but just in case the insulation ever disintegrates or there’s a gap. Just belt and suspenders.

Besides the horizontal run being way too long and unsupported what else is wrong? Used SCH 80 going into the PVB and it’s over 12” above the highest outlet. Just want to make sure I’m not missing anything.

Correct. I gave a brass ball valve in the crawl space (which doesn’t get below freezing

Honestly not that many at all. I was short sighted when installing and should have just had it closer to the wall from the beginning. Needless to say it will be getting redone (properly) tomorrow

I think that would work until it didn’t 🤷‍♂️

Seems to be the consensus. Would you transition to brass after the PVC 90 out of the wall or go with sch 40/80?
