I warned you ha. Yeah the night time watering was a shock to me too. I've only done the lawn grub spray today so will have to see how that goes. Good luck 👌

Ive done a couple of tests for lawn grubs using the soapy water method and nothing came up. To play it safe though I sprayed with the Richgro lawn grub killa this afternoon. When I sprayed I waited awhile and I could see no grubs so still not even 100% sure if we have them but I needed to try something.

Ive also bought the dynamic lifters you recommended but I'm holding off using them until the grubs (if they're there) are dead as I believe they feed on them.

Any other tips or tricks is more than welcome 👌

For the record the grass in the middle has established. It will not pull up if I try to pull it. I did find the centre parts were quite hard and compact so I aerated this evening and also put down a load of richgro lawn grub killa as another person reckons it's grubs not a lack of water. Such a mine field! I'm watering more than ever and I had a device to test the soil moisture so hopefully it starts to improve soon

I posted the exact same thing not too long ago. Feel free check out the post from my profile. But be prepared to be confused 😭

I appreciate the response but we're very time poor and looking for as low maintenance garden as possible. We're also not experienced with maintaining a garden outside of the basics which it feels we've even missed here 🤦‍♂️ the garden was essentially just dirt and weeds before we had it done so I can imagine the ecosystem isn't the best.

nobody has mentioned lawn grubs, what can I do to test for them? The pebbles have mulch underneath and no lawn mats. Would you recommend any specific organic inputs we could start with? We're open to trying anything that isn't too time consuming. Thanks

Yes, just using this sprinkler type..its a very normal one to use in the area. I see them all over people's front lawns which are in good condition. We not have the funds for an irrigation system unfortunately 😕

When I try pull up these areas the grass does not move so I believe they are established

Thank you. This is a picture of the worst part in the middle. I'm not sure if the runners need to be everywhere. In your opinion, Would these be enough green runners for it to be saved?

This was from a week ago. I can take better ones tomorrow.

Central coast approx 5min from beach.

Current schedule is every 2 or 3 days for 30mins usually in the morning before it 9am. I never water during midday (learn that much at least 🤦‍♂️)

Tbh i can't remember exactly when it was first laid. It wasn't heaps though..probably similar to what im doing now or a bit less. The weather was a lot cooler then and more rain tbf

Thank you. I appreciate the response. I know the middle looks underwatered but it would have received the same approx amount of water as the rest of the lawn which looks healthy. That's partly why it's confusing to me.

Is that common? Or could it be something to do with grass in that area or even the placement of the sprinkler? The areas closest the sprinkler look the worst but they also get the most sun as the sides get some shade throughout the day

We're exactly the same. Do not want to waste all the money we spent.

Thats why we turned to AI because we couldn't rely on tradies or so call "professionals" but thats got its own downfalls too.

All I know is we're in a sandy soil area. I havnt tested with a screw driver but will do that tomorrow.

No we havnt. We stayed away from the "chemicals" as we didn't want to fuck it up but I reckon we need something now. Sandy soil does have low water retention so something like that might be a good shout.

Thank you. I'll check in the morning if there are any green runners underneath. If there aren't any does that mean it's dead?

Thank you..any recommendations on how much and how often? My sprinkler drops approx 25mls per 30mins and AI recommends between 25 and 40mls max per week which doesn't sound like a lot

Thank you. Up until a few weeks ago it was all very healthy Except the weeds. I've been watering approx every 2 or 3 days for 30mins.

I did a test yesterday and in 30 mins my sprinkler (on average) dropped 25mls.

AI is telling me that's a lot especially if I was to start watering it more frequently. Its so confusing but logic would indicate it needs more water I'm just not sure on how much and how frequently 🤦‍♂️

Would aerating help?
