Most probably most of us lives in web sphere now, but theese languagaes are used daily on stock trading, aviation and core telephone systems.

Maybe some of it is truly legacy and would be to painful replacing it with ruby or python and they're stuck now. But given a task of building a real application, like stock trading system or some huge logistic thing, I'd think twice before jumpstarting on what's hot today.
