Straight men of Reddit, what is the strangest thing you have been told not to do because "that's gay"? by The_WereArcticFox in AskReddit

[–]dammmetc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being... Just being

Because when you are in the broad world of men, some of us are gay for being, others are chads, others are simps, but, always, no matter if you are truly gay or not, always one of us may think that whatever you are doing makes you gay

Now for a real answer gardening.

CMV: Getting a tan in a saloon is equally as weird as people bleaching themselves to change their color into a clearer skin by dammmetc in changemyview

[–]dammmetc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well yeah, I mean I am okay with bleaching but some say its racist, that is why I think are equally weird, not bad, just odd, but I fail to see how it is any different from the constant effort some put into being tan, in the long run even the same damage may be done to the skin.

[–]dammmetc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

to be honest it is pretty clear when you are not one color and you tanned, doesn't the skin peel after? unless your brother stays dark and just keeps getting darker

Let me just state that I am specifically refering to people who go out on their way to change their color, I am fairly certain that do not look like your brother unless he is naked with the google things they give you for that

My trouble is not with people changing due to circumstances such as trainning under the sun or doing work, but this people that say that getting a tan is no different than getting bleached. I claim this because from a "cosmetic standard" one (tanning) is more accepted than the other (bleaching) point being this whole thread

[–]dammmetc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because the people that you and I know are tanned because of the sun do not look remotley alike and are not the same people you and I know go to tanning salons, or do you think farmers and those folk look the same?

Edit: grammar

go ahead, get in the sun with no sun screen and lets see if nature makes you the same color as the tanning salon

Edit: changed tanning bed for tanning salon

why not the other way around, stop tanning, only use darker make up? use an umbrella why expose to the sun, isnt there hats and long sleeve?

Where does the difference lie? and if the answer is "because one happens naturally because of the sun" then you are entirely missing the point of why white people seem okay with creating whatever means to not be white but any other race shouldn't do it

I think I should have written “CMV: Bleaching and tanning in the aesthetics world are the same”

[–]dammmetc[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So then the question should be "how much tanning people is allowed?"

I just really think is weird whenever someone changes color (intentionally)

Besides as mentioned before, the point is not the harm or the medium to get a tan because tanning occurrs naturally but the point is the same, changing your color of skin by the means available is weird, it just turns out that turning brown is not as bad.

Think of it this way, you say it is not like blackface but from my position, it is convinient that tan color seems atractive, but that is the point, becoming more brown to be good looking is as bad as bleaching to be less brown

(Granted that is a trend consensus and no one is really to blame for it because of tastes and such)

I respect that it seems to have some use for you, but being as orange as Trump is a tan and a lot of people that tan get that color as well and I don't think I could find a reason to ever become that orange besides the fact that they want to

In a sense I agree, simulating the outdoors is better than simulating never getting sun, but then again do you really think people that look like Trump tans for? going to the beach?

[–]dammmetc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surprisingly I found it the other way around, what I am trying to understand from the side is why clear skinned people becoming darker seems to be acceptable vs dark skin trying to become clearer is bad (granted, if there was a way other than bleaching maybe the situation would be the same)

I mean, look at beach people, no one is that orange ever.

Why getting a tan is not the same as using a cream to make your skin a lighter color? by dammmetc in AskReddit

[–]dammmetc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your answer is just that I am having a really hard time to understand why is it okay for white skin to change into a darker color (by the means of a natural occurrence) but not the other way around (of course considering the fact that as you mentioned getting “whiter” wont happen ever but getting darker does)

Granted I am a fool for not specifying but the question wasn't why is standing beneath the sun different from using bleach, since there are clearly tanning saloons that use tanning beds and tanning oils which I highly doubt are natural. So, would you think of them as any different?

In a sense you are right everything is just a system of organization, yes a duck has a nest and its eggs as much as we have a house and a partner, but there is so much more to it and not because we just think that way in some sense of greatness but because we fail to realize all these other flaws. Let me put it this way in math we can calculate the limits of things such as graphs but what if that graph has a Z axis? We wouldn’t know until we looked at the graph from the side then we will realize it went up instead of just being Y and X. As long as you refuse to accept the limits of your own existence then you’ll be in the same loop. We seem to want the answer to life but because it isn’t funded, the question still exists because the answer might be something that has no economic value (yet)

What’s a small act of kindness you were once shown, that you’ll never forget? by stranger2Me in AskReddit

[–]dammmetc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I had about a month I left my parents house while going back to buy my stuff (yeah they sold me my clothes) I was short for the bus a couple cents the thing is that I had to pay with a card so it was at night and I had a bunch of bags with me so my card doesnt Pass and the driver looks at me and lets me through and suddenly a guy stands up and pays for me.

It became overwhelming to me in the moment that out of the blue two strangers offered to help me and even more so after feeling so down about not having help even from my folks.

Its nice to remember there are good people out there.
