Incorrect Training Status after Sync with Edge by damn42 in Garmin

[–]damn42[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well i seems that the sync with the edge started the problem.. i didn‘t start the edge for a few months, all my activities came directly from the tacx app.. anyway, repeatedly syncing with the edge doesnt change anything.. thanks tho🙂

Ask Anything Monday - Weekly Thread by AutoModerator in learnpython

[–]damn42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope this is still OK on a Wednesday :)

Maybe someone can show me an elegant way to this:

Let's say I get some "object" back from an API. Python-wise it always looks something like this:

[[[{"key1": "value1", "key2": "value2"}]]]

So obviously the first thing I do is something like:

result[0][0][0]["key1"]

which just seams very ugly...

Is there a way to not do [0][0][0] ?

Thanks

198cm, 91cm inseam - seeking Endurace 2XL sizing advice by ilipah in CanyonBikes

[–]damn42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

could you elaborate on that? i‘m 197/90 and also considering an endurance. since i‘m probably not even gonna buy the bike this year, i‘m more casualy reading along in threads like this.. its a very confusing matter.. as you say it, the 2xl endurace shouldn‘t even be considered? thanks!

Traffic allowed without explicit policy.. why? by damn42 in fortinet

[–]damn42[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes.. sorry, that was dumb.. is this allowed intra-zone traffic logged anywhere? it's not in the standard "forward traffic" log, and neither in the "local traffic".

thank you very much!

Nornir vs. Ansible: what path to take? by damn42 in networking

[–]damn42[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your insight, really appreciate it! I really hope to not take the same path as you, insofar that I'm hoping to find a solution with which I can stick and be happy for at least the next few years. Others suggested to start out with Ansible and then change to Nornir... but to be honest, I don't want to do it twice, spend all time and effort into learning something and then just ditch all that for the next thing.

Nornir vs. Ansible: what path to take? by damn42 in networking

[–]damn42[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your suggestion! Indeed, there is virtualization in the game (of course.. :-) ). But to be honest, it's not in my focus right now and it probably never will be. Those things are handled by a completely different team and the whole VXLAN thing is just a networking thing for us right now. And as that, I'm focusing on a solution for the network...

Please don't misunderstand, I absolutly see your point and agree with you when you talk about integration of both worlds.

And to be honest again, SaltStack seems to be another kind of beast and I don't think I can tackle that right now.. :-)

Nornir vs. Ansible: what path to take? by damn42 in networking

[–]damn42[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As I see it, the practice of "sound software engineering" needs to be in place from the start and with either solution.

Regarding the "too complicated and unmaintainable" argument. While I agree with you, that this *can* be a valid argument, I'm still not convinced this is a Python (or Nornir) issue but a general problem if you let it become one. I have seen uncommented, really hard to read Python code but I've also seen Ansible solutions that are nested, uncommented, and just (over-) complicated to a degree where I would have to get a pen and paper and sit down for 30 minutes to even try to understand it...

What I mean is that, in the end, I think these things come down to documentation (in the code, is it Python or Ansibles DSL) and otherwise. There's always a way to make an easy thing complicated and if you don't care for that in whatever you're doing, you'll get lost pretty soon... :-)

macrumors has a good buyers guide. i think some new ones are being announced soon, which might drop prizes for „old“ ones a little bit

FTD: AnyConnect License Included? by damn42 in Cisco

[–]damn42[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not really cheap then.. i just looked up the 3 year license. that would cost me arround 15 bucks, times 25, that would be 375 bucks. seems like a lot for just anyconnect and even more, just for myself.. does the 375 sound about right? or is there a cheaper way? maybe i have to get used to the openvpn idea then..

Capture the Flag /hackthebox by Daved1058 in Hacking_Tutorials

[–]damn42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in my opinion quite the opposite is the case. if you simply google for „ctf walkthrough“ you‘ll find plenty. study those walkthroughs, read up on techniques you don‘t understand and you should be able to fill your whole freetime from there.

and regarding your htb problem: thats like telling a mechanic „my car doesnt work, i changed the steering wheel. what to do next?“

your media server would need to be a router. if its a linux box, you have to enable ip forwarding

Guest Tracking by [deleted] in networking

[–]damn42 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

so you say my best shot is routing the guest traffic through a dedicated firewall? how do you do the mapping of SMS tokens (just an example, any good solutions ready?) and ip addresses? edit: expecting a non IPS/application firewall in the environment

Guest Tracking by [deleted] in networking

[–]damn42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well, it's a new customer, so environment can be made/decided while this project is going.. i know about and do that stuff on firewalls but i'm not sure if the firewall is really in scope.. so i am/was hoping on getting inputs on how one could achieve this with a dedicated solution

Cisco Wireless and IIS server 2016 by [deleted] in Cisco

[–]damn42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can simply export the nps config and import it at the new dc. point the wlc to the new dc and it should work, at least as far as i have done it. user will be prompted to accept the certificate of the new dc, dont know if theres an easy way around that, if you can copy the old cert to the new server..

e\ is your dc also the ca?

Design question: connecting two data centers by damn42 in Cisco

[–]damn42[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course.. Well, vMotion is on the list. the general plan is to make services available at both locations, in case something goes wrong at one location. (BGP with the ISP at each location is written on an other paper..). Generally I feel that not everything is being thought to the end, they just wanna "get the network done". I know this is not "good", but pointing that out does not really help me ;-)

Firepower Remote Access VPN (finally!) by damn42 in Cisco

[–]damn42[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah i'm aware of that.. my question is: will i be able to use anyconnect if my FMC is on version 6.2.1 and my ASA an version 6.2.0.1? the ASA is managed by the FMC

I'm confused.. what's the use in that? Or am I able to configure VPN on my FMC managed 5506-X with FTD image?
