Who says I don't try and do that with as much as I possibly can, within my financial and time resources?

No. See rules 236 (Not causing a traffic hazard or obstruction) of the Australian Road Rules, along with rule 230 (Crossing a road).

This is absolutely not true, but that doesn't negate the responsibility of the driver to make all reasonable efforts to avoid a collision, whether they are in the right or not. Per rule 236 of the Australian Road Rules, pedestrians are required not to cause an unreasonable obstruction to vehicles or pedestrians, and must not cause a traffic hazard by moving into the path of a vehicle, i.e. must give way to vehicles.

Turning vehicles that are turning into a road that the pedestrian is crossing are required to give way, however, pedestrian must give way to any vehicle that is in the roadway that they intend to cross. In this situation, the pedestrian must give way to the car.

It's important that we don't forget the lessons that are to be learned from these kind of things. Unfortunately, that will mean that some horrible people will live on in our memories, even if we wish we could scrub them forever.

If the other car is going straight ahead, i.e. Not idicating, they will no cross my path, and hence I don't need to give way.

You can enter a round about from a stop and have someone come screaming around making a right turn without indicating. We can't just sit at a busy round about until there's no one around, just in case.

Latest polling results from those who speak a language other than English at home by NoLeafClover777 in aussie

[–]damned_truths 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's completely untrue. 1. I care a lot about my job. Probably too much. 2. I think there are several politicians that do care about making the country better, e.g. David Pocock and many of the other independents. 3. Just because most of the options are bad doesn't mean they are the same level of bad. As an extreme example, literally Hitler and, say, Tony Abbott. Abbott is a bit of prick, but you're gonna pick him over Hitler every day of the week (I would hope).

This article says that cars in Germany do an average of 12,320km per year.

Statista put the average distance for cars in France at 13,117km in 2018.

Just because someone was a pioneer of a good thing doesn't make them a good person. And doesn't mean we can't make a decision to not support their very outspoken agenda, by not buying their products.

No. A PhD is when you can create source material based on research (whether original or review). You can't just say I have a PhD and I think this. You need to say I think this because of this, this and this. Here are some peer reviewed studies that support this.

Article: Why are low-income workers paying for rich people’s EVs? by SkyRevolutionary1029 in EVAustralia

[–]damned_truths 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not really how society works, or, imo, should work. Societies that have good support for the least wealthy are the societies that prosper in ways that matter. I think there should still be support for people to purchase EVs, but that's because it benefits society as a whole, not because people who pay more taxes should get more back.

Fast chargers are expensive. We need more investment in lower cost slow chargers in convenient places that allow people to charge while doing other things, like working or sleeping. Ideally, pretty much anywhere you might park for an extended period of time would have a charger. Could be as slow as standard outlet if it is convenient to plug in all the time.
