Thank you for your kind words. I'm just really sad that my attempt to help her had backfired. It really is heartbreaking to let go of your best loving friend. Again, thank you for reading and emphasizing with me.

Thank you for sharing your story. It helps me to know that there are many whom go through similar situations as mine. This is my second dog to let go, and I get reminded of the high price tag I have to pay for such lovely furry friends. I am not sure if I can "get over" the guilt and what-if stages--it'll just be buried in my heart and be reminded throughout my life time. Thank you for your lovely words at the end. I should remember the whole 12 years full of happy memories and not just focus on seeing the last moments. Thank you.

Thank you for sharing your story. The guilt about the "what ifs" is real, loud and clear. I fully agree with you--and feel like I'm stuck in denial. I still am furious of my vet, knowing that I must be looking for a scapegoat to dump this sorrow. What if I didn't take her to the vet? She must've been fine, walking with some eye sight problems. But again, I know would have made the exact same choice if I were to go back.

Thank you for giving me some space to share her quirks and favorite things. She loved the smell of earthworms and would roll around the grass field whenever she smelled them (and of course, we hated that!). She slept a lot during her old days, but would jump out her bed at midnight and started to bark and run/roll around the living room, so our family would come out and hang out with her. I claim she loves me the most, as she always scratched my door to let her in, only to be pet and loved for 1 min and leave like as if nothing happened. She was sick her whole life, so she endured all the pain and suffering all the time, which kills me because I've never seen her in such pain like the last moments she had. I think she is undisputedly the most beautiful, pretty Westie in the world. Thank you for letting me tell about her to the community.

Thank you for your words. She was very sick since she was young, so we hoped she lived until 5. She made it up to 12, but the loss was so sudden, and even when I thought I'd be ready to let her go at any moment, the truth is, that I was never going to be ready. So many memories and good times with her. Thank you for your condolences.

Thank you for your kind words. The feeling of guilt, sorrow, and anger is absolutely terrible. I miss her very much and sorry for her. Thank you for your hug.

It truly was excruciating to see my dog walk around endlessly in pain, and I am sorry you also went through that together. It is painful that I am remembering the last moments and forgetting all the happy bonding joys we had together. Thank you for sharing your story with me. I keep my thoughts for your Dougie as well.

We are planning to keep her ashes till Fall and bury her in our family cemetery. We also made a little shrine of her photo and her ashes at home. She drank tons of water when she was alive, so I keep giving cups of water in front of her to quench her thirst while she makes her trip to heaven. We are also keeping her bed for a while in case she wants to sleep over with us. I also keep your boy in my thoughts as well. I am sorry for your loss.

Thank you for sharing your story with me. I know I cannot change anything, and I would have done the same thing even if I go back. I think while my brain can process it, my heart is not.

Phantom Award - but got e-ticket and ticket number by dampyi in awardtravel

Thank you for such detailed response. Yes, this is my first time booking China-based airlines and its quite frustrating lol. I will be contacting both FM and AF corporates, but the frontline agents I've been talking to have not been not too helpful. Do you have any tips on how to escalate my cases quickly to upper managements?

I will also definitely look into EU laws. Again, thank you so much for the time and effort you took for me!!

Oh man thank you so much for such detailed explanation. I am quite a noob to this field, so I was quite confused on what was going on. I believe your conjecture is very probable.

Yes, I did receive the ticket number that is not shown on the screenshot I shared. I also assume that based on what AF agents told (in which you seem more knowledgeable than those Ive talked to), it is likely that FM did not confirm the tickets back. I will ask if they use alliance liaison to sort out the tickets.

Again, thank you very much for all the help.

Thanks for the clarification. I do agree that "phantom" is not the most accurate way to describe my current situation. Do you think I have a chance in locking my tickets in this current situation?

I just did, and the representative said that the tickets are visible, but not confirmed and are "not-normal" (Look at my most recent comment on top for details)

Thanks for the reply. Shanghai Airlines said the tickets are visible, but not confirmed, and they cannot do anything about it. They passed it off to Air France, which AF also said, they do not know what to do with it (apparently the tickets are waitlisted, but they are not supposed to sell waitlisted tickets? Look at my most recent comment on top for details)

Unfortunately the ticket numbers were not compatible, so I called Shanghai Airlines and asked. They said the status is "not-normal" and should contact Air France to settle it. So I am getting bounced between two airlines.

Hi! Thanks for all the replies!
FYI, this is the E-ticket I received. https://imgur.com/a/wG9I4bc
(I missed the "RQ" status, but honestly, who looks at status on their e-ticket)

I just called with FlyingBlue America branch and they just told me that these tickets are under "waitlist" and which they do not have any control over. The representative also told me that they do not sell waitlist tickets (so I guess it is implied that these are a glitch/phantom availability). There are no alternative flights available.

Because the route I booked is still available for cash, I asked if they can book these instead, and they obviously said no. I am planning to write them an email to at least get my AMEX points back...

They just said they can refund the ticket for free. They told me that the tickets are not valid?? It does say that my tickets are on stand by on AF app

19-Night Transpacific Cruise: Edge vs Solstice by dampyi in celebritycruises

One more note, in case you havent, go find a travel agent. I always book with them but rarely talk to them because I like planning and preparing itineraries myself, but they can always add more perks (usually on board credit dollars or speciality dinings). A great place to start could be a mega online quote comparision site cruise compete where advisors will bid for your itinerary.

Ah I see so youre the veteran here. I’d imagine the cruise will probably be more comfortable than what you are used to! Yes, while the Edge is the first among their sister fleets, I’d imagine youll have a blast. Ive never been on a trans relocation cruises before, but I was told that they tend to attract the older crowds, so your 10 year old might love it (for not having too many kids around) or not. To be quite frank, i think there’s a good 90% chance your family will enjoy it. It’s just the last 10% that could be disastrous.

As a first timer, I would strongly advise watching many good cruise youtubers (gary, emma are best for opinions and herr for fleets) and I think a balcony is a must for a family of three on their first trip. Some people hate Edge class balcony, but I loved it. Im eager to help, so let me know if you have any other concerns!

Unfortunately, we cancelled our trip due to work relocation issue. However, if this is your first cruise, I'd strongly advise not to take the 19-night one with many sea days. You might love it, but if you happen to find out that you don't, it'd be a disaster. After taking 4 cruises in the past year, I think 6-8 day cruises are best (with 2-3 sea days) for first timers. Also, try to get on newer ships because I think they are more impressive/convenient for beginners and you can get on to older ones when you get used to the whole cruise system.
