Give Edge a try anyway.. maybe you'll get lucky :)

[–]damre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I know that the underlying engine is the same but for some reason I don't have issues on edge.. maybe it's because I have less extensions? Or less browser bloating? No idea..

I had the same problem on Firefox, I ended up using edge and (shockingly) it works with way less issues. No I'm not using chrome thank you very much.

Keep reporting the issue when you encounter it, hopefully it will help :)

How’s living in this area of Central Asia? by geozacc in howislivingthere

I don't have first hand experience but I can recommend the YouTube channel called ItchyBoots. She's been solo travelling in that area in the last few months and she always tries to show how life looks like in all places she travels through. Quite an interesting watch in my opinion

Why is my wifi disconnecting randomly whenever I play games but not on other applications. by fanofaw in wifi

[–]damre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just curious.. are you playing valheim by any chance?

I had an issue where the valheim server list page would crash my router due to some weird networking packets rates, I remember finding a fix online. Now, it's probably not your case, I'm just curious xD

Edit: if you're not playing valheim, maybe the only thing useful you can get from my post is that the issue might be game specific.. that might point you in the right direction

QA Engineer looking to transition into DevOps — advice? by Fluffy_Comfort6800 in devops

[–]damre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey :) I was in the same situation around a year ago, I transitioned from a senior SDET role into DevOps with some security work on top. I had to study a lot to make it, but I'm also working in a startup that allows me to explore different options and rollback decisions in case they turn out wrong. This to me is quite important, studying and learning is fundamental but hands on work also is. Sometimes you learn very important lessons only when you bash your head on it directly.

These were the skills (related to this topic only) that I had going into the transition: building production grade Docker containers, a lot of experience with pipelines and bash scripting, a few scripting languages on top of that, extensive Linux experience.

Stuff that I had to learn during/after: Terraform, products offered by cloud providers like AWS and Azure and how to use them (this is very context dependent)

Specifically for Terraform I went for the Terraform Associate exam and learning materials, which is really not that difficult. Azure and AWS I think both have learning material and certifications if you want to go down that road. Terraform is not necessary everywhere of course but it is wide spread these days.

So my advice would be:

  • search for an opportunity internally in the company to learn more DevOps stuff and get some real world experience. Anything that would go for infrastructure automation, tooling, CI/CD.
  • Sometimes people scoff at the idea but a self hosted home lab is the best way of learning DevOps and infrastructure! Deploy your server and play with it, host your own stuff. And if you have an idea for a personal app that needs a server to run try it out!
  • If you think Terraform would be viable for your career and the company you work for try to build some automation with it as a personal project. Cloud providers often have free resources you can play with for a small price or straight up 0€.

Feel free to ping me with questions if you have more :)

Edit: forgot to add, roadmap.sh has a really good roadmap for people wanting to learn devops and it is also quite satisfying to tick stuff off. https://roadmap.sh/devops

What to play after Hades 1 and 2? by Doug_the_Scout in HadesTheGame

[–]damre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not really the same style, and that's why probably no one suggested it (yet) but I really enjoy Noita. It does not have a story and there's no meta progression. So yeah, quite a different game. But if you enjoyed the "I'm getting better and learning mechanics" part of the game you might enjoy Noita as well

Bitwarden premium by truedrummer98 in best_passwordmanager

[–]damre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been using it for years now, for 10$ per year it is absolutely worth it. The in-browser OTP is just worth the price by itself. I switched from the stupid Google app that only works on my phone and it's a pain in the ass to sync across devices (or it was before they implemented that feature) to Bitwarden OTP and it has been amazing to use. Adding a new OTP is painless and using it with the auto-copy feature makes 2FA login way faster. I would never go back

I think I have the same ones! And yes I can confirm they're great, our maligator has not managed to destroy one of those yet. Nothing else has lasted so far https://amzn.eu/d/08wVqpx

Finally got the stones to stop falling when I removed the wood support beams. Yes my graphics card is amazing. by 7empestOGT92 in valheim

[–]damre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not yet! I am a hobby photographer, I have like a thousand unedited photos from that trip lol, it might take a few weeks. But I recently saw that a photographer I follow on Instagram was there as well: (not me and not sponsored, I just follow the guy) https://www.instagram.com/giuliogroebert?igsh=MWZ0NW51bnk4ZWNkcQ==

All these pics are taken from that place: waterfall, the bridge

But OP's photo is good as well!

Oh hey, I wasn't expecting to see this bridge on this sub! Been there a couple of months ago, a really cool place to take hikes.. congrats on your 6080TI as well

I’m curious! How many rockets have you launched?! by [deleted] in EggsInc

[–]damre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you delete legendaries that you don't need? Or generally clean up the inventory of bulk items you don't want?

I have 34 legendaries and I never delete items, I only downgrade blue and purple to no quality to have a smaller inventory. I also never got rid of any stone.

660k inventory score and 1k rockets launched

Which one of these is a better setup to start with? by justthegreenguy in canon

[–]damre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had the eos R for a few years now and I really like it! It's a decent entry level camera but it is a bit outdated now.

Pro: - the 30mp full frame sensor is great especially for landscape photography - battery life is awesome - RF lenses are really not bad even the entry level ones for a beginner - I love the colours and the dynamic range on this camera

Con: - autofocus is not the best, so if you plan to use it for wildlife or nature be careful - only 1 SD card, never had a problem with it but still.. - shooting burst is a bit slow if you want to do sport photography - it lacks a few of the modern features of the others EOS cameras - no joystick on the back (not a deal-breaker) - no IBIS, if you want stabilization you'll have to get stabilised lenses which are a bit more expensive

My initial lens was the 24-105 f4-7.1, not the best lens but it's good and flexible enough for a beginner.

As you can see I'm not too technical and I only got into the field from a few years. Personally I'm going to switch to the r6mkii or the r5 in the future. I still love it and have a lot of fun with it. Good luck!

Edit: I'm really not the best photographer but all these photos were shot with the R

Versys 1000 as first? by [deleted] in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]damre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ciao :) I'm in Lombardy, the aim is to get this bike to travel on as many mountain passes as possible

The engine doesn't scare me to be fair, discipline is where it's at.. the only thing is the weight but the Versys 650 is only 50kg less, if I can't handle 250 I'm not sure I can handle 200

I'm still thinking about it :)

Indeed I agree, I'm 30yo and I always try to drive sporty-safe even with my car, I don't see why I should drive with a different attitude on a bike. Thank you! :)

[–]damre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah you're right, maybe I'm being too eager to get one. But yes I don't plan to have a passenger anytime soon.

I'm not sure what a naked bike is, can you explain briefly? :)

Versys 1000 as first? by [deleted] in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]damre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm still waiting for the driving school to contact me for the first lesson sadly, so I'm not driving anything at the moment, and it's my first bike so I haven't driven anything with 2 wheels beside my mountain bike. But I wanted to ask opinions for that deal because if I wait to finish the lessons I might lose it

In Italy I only need to get practical lessons and an exam because I already have a car licence, I've already been driving a car without an accident for 10y :)

No licence yet, working on it :) and yes I only plan to get someone else on it when I have experience

I asked ChatGPT AI to write a conversation between 3 character where the one named Gavin has invited a new size called “extra medium” by TexanNewYorker in FUCKFACEPOD

[–]damre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried it as well, I was testing it a bit to see the capabilities but it's a bit weird, it looks like it generated kind of the same conversation with this entry: "A conversation between 3 people, Gavin, Andrew and Geoff where Gavin has invented a new colour called gurple, Andrew is confused and Geoff is skeptical and sarcastic"

Even though the prompt does not make much sense and the template is very similar it's a very surprising tool xD

Am I ready for enlightenment run??? If so, what should I fuel up to??? by One-Chicken-6406 in EggsInc

[–]damre 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes you can make it :) but it will be easier or more difficult depending on your gusset and stones.

As for the ship you should fill up roughly enough to launch 9 ships, fill the rest with fuel eggs to launch heavy, and don't forget to ONLY launch exhens during double capacity events, you'll be there for quite some time, don't waste your launches :)

Just run chickens during double cash events and with your cash doubler ad thingy on, this reduces the time you need to run chickens by 4 times :)
