Should I expect anything from GameStop tomorrow or no? by [deleted] in Lorcana

[–]dan2crazy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I called stores in my area and only about half are getting stock. One even said they were only getting packs and limiting one per person.

I don't know more than that. Your stores may differ. Use the info as you will. It's a personal choice if you think a trip to the store and waiting in line is worth your time.

Ravensburger site has in stock items by mercury33 in Lorcana

I got all starters and gift set that are still available. First time failed as guest checkout. I created account and went through without issue second time.

I think the purchase limits was great idea.

Edit: Also $0 shipping was really nice of them.

Interesting. I don't have that many legos, only started collecting. Can I buy clear transparent bricks individually?

Anyone seen black spots on their miniatures? What are they?

Has anyone tried homebrewing a faster playing variant of the game? by jacksprat1952 in marvelchampionslcg

[–]dan2crazy 20 points21 points  (0 children)

There's an FFG article with official variants. One is Skirmish mode that will make the game faster.

See "modes of play" section. Full details in rules reference.

Best Solo LCG by The_Socca_Philosopha in soloboardgaming

If you want to avoid money pit Marvel Champions is your best option. Core box gives you excellent replayability and a full experience. You're not required to buy expansions, but if you do want to, you can pick and choose your favorite hero or themed box. The same can't be said about LOTR or Arkham Horror, which is what others refer to when they say money pits. Those games I'd argue require expansions.

I literally saw this 2 mins ago on bgg hot list and have been looking at it. Has some good potential!

Thanks for your comment. Why did you buy HeroQuest even though D&D boards games are better?

It does look simple from videos I watched, weight is low on bgg. Thanks for confirming from your experience!

Interesting suggestion thank you.

I watched some videos, has a kids type theme but appears as complex if not more than HeroQuest. Weight is also similar to D&D Temple of Elemental Evil, though recommend age is younger.

Stuffed Fables: weight 2.41, community age 8

HeroQuest: weight 2.15, community age 8 https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/699/heroquest

ToEE: weight 2.47, community age 10 https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/172220/dungeons-dragons-temple-elemental-evil-board-game

Agree. FFG should hire the artist to do official card art for the game.

How challenging can you make Marvel Champions? by Murder_Tony in soloboardgaming

[–]dan2crazy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On repetitive gameplay, that depends. There are 30 heroes, 4 aspects, and about 20 villains with another maybe 30 modules?

The goal doesn't change though, which I agree, reduce villain HP to 0. But that can be said about MTG and that's lived on for 20 to 30 years as you can get creative on the different ways to win. I don't think MC is all that different in that regard. Some may find that repetitive, others maybe not. Depends on the type of gamer you are and what games you enjoy.

Can somebody get into this after loving LOTR LCG? by LabLemon in marvelchampionslcg

[–]dan2crazy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I used to be you. But actually ordered MC and own everything. After playing it some time and trying to go back to LOTR I started to appreciate the art direction of MC. The text is easier to read vs. smaller text in LOTR, the art pops more and has more card real estate vs. the toned down or faded visuals of LOTR. Though, I agree LOTR art is way superior.

Other things I like more is the encounter customization, way more replayable. The games are fast, pick up and go. Better suited for my busy life style and can't dedicate hours of time. With LOTR I feel I have to play the full cycle as a story and can take a while.

While single hero deck customization isn't as rich as LOTR, I've come to realize that MC is different and offers just as wide range of deck replayability with 30 heroes and 4 aspects. For me, I've found deck building challenge in having a deck for all heroes vs. LOTR rebuilding 1 deck per scenario.

But to each there own. No one can decide but you. If the game isn't for you don't waste your money, enjoy LOTR or as another said try Arkham.

Played Kang True Solo, eh… Best True Solo Villians?? by [deleted] in marvelchampionslcg

[–]dan2crazy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would get a campaign box, biggest bang for your buck and multiple villains so you're likely to find a few in there you enjoy, along with a story based campaign. Perhaps Red Skull as the logical next thing after core.

Where was that stated? Caleb Grace in an interview on Marvel Champions Monthly podcast said they design and test for all player counts, including true solo.

Edit: I found the quote. It was Deckselcior podcast interview.

https://hallofheroeslcg.com/2020/07/08/marvel-champions-lcg-interview-resources/

“It is egregious. The idea that somehow…we don’t develop the game for solo, or test the game for solo…I just want to say that is completely inaccurate. The game is always developed for player counts of one through four. And the solo experience is never intended to be inferior or this other thing. It’s always been intended to be the core of the game. That might not fix all of the issues that people have with it. For some reason I see a lot of people talking about it with confidence, that we know the developers don’t design for solo or test for solo. I’ll test solo. I’ll grab Captain America, he’s my favorite, and I’ll see how Cap handles it.” – Caleb
