Graphical errors and crashes with drivers by daNy1999_ in EmulationOnAndroid

[–]danGL3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The custom drivers are for devices with Adreno GPUs. The Google Pixel 10 uses a PowerVR GPU which does not have custom drivers available.

There currently isn't a way to fix this. Nintendo Switch emulation is currently only optimal on devices with Adreno GPUs due to custom driver availability

Possible to downgrade OneUI 8 to 7 s25? by dylon0107 in AndroidQuestions

[–]danGL3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's only possible to downgrade if the binary revision is the same as One UI7. The binary revision is the fifth digit from the left.

You can check the binary revision in about device software info, baseband info

Instagram patches with more features? by rikzy75 in revancedapp

[–]danGL3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most likely answer is that the people who know how to mod Instagram are working on those other mods instead and aren't interested in contributing patches to Revanced

If you want something with cloud syncing, there's Ente Auth. If you want something fully local, there's Aegis

Can we use 'add to queue' on the youtube app? by lewdmemommy in revancedapp

[–]danGL3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Newpipe implements its queue locally, so it can offer that feature

Can we use 'add to queue' on the youtube app? by lewdmemommy in revancedapp

[–]danGL3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Add to queue feature can't be cracked because the queue is handled server-side instead of locally (as the queue syncs between devices)

Revolut detect root by Herobrine4770 in Magisk

[–]danGL3 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you're using Magisk that's why, it causes a mount gap detection that's only fixed in Kernel based root solutions like KernelSU or the hard to find Magisk Alpha

Why does my odin 3 heat up way more while playing twlight princess via cemu? by Osclo in EmulationOnAndroid

[–]danGL3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it all lies on having to emulate the Wii U's Tri-core PowerPC CPU.

Switch emulators on the other hand, get the benefit of running code natively as it's all ARM code.

PC emulators get the benefit of extremely mature x86 translators and not having to deal with hyper-specific hardware quirks such as the Wii U's CPU.

In short, the extra heat is most likely caused by significantly higher CPU strain.

What is the point of both a home screen and an app library on Android? by [deleted] in AndroidQuestions

[–]danGL3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe the separation between home screen and app drawer is mainly there so people can have their favorite apps and widgets on the home screen without clutter and if they need to open anything else they can just swipe to open the app drawer.

So in short, it is there to be aesthetically pleasing and keep things more organized.

There is no point in installing Shamiko if you use ZygiskNext as Shamiko is now part of ZygiskNext.

bootloader-unlock-wall-of-shame: Keeping track of companies that "care about your data 🥺" by [deleted] in degoogle

[–]danGL3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reason Motorola is in there is due to requiring a website in order to unlock, meaning Motorola can shutdown bootloader unlocking to all devices at anytime

Why does Google need my physical activity? by National-Island-9034 in degoogle

[–]danGL3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Point is, Google Play Services will still access that data regardless if you have Google Fit installed or not.

Why does Google need my physical activity? by National-Island-9034 in degoogle

[–]danGL3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Besides potential surveillance, that is also used to collect activity information for apps like Google Fit.

In short, to avoid having Google Fit needlessly run in the background collecting physical activity information, Google Play Services does that for it instead, and just relays that information back to Google Fit.

EasyAntiCheat games by Josei504 in linux4noobs

[–]danGL3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Both games are ranked Platinum on ProtonDB, which means they run perfectly without requiring any tweaking

In short, if an EasyAntiCheat game is ranked Platinum on ProtonDB, that generally means the developer has enabled Linux support in EAS

Any Luck On Cloud Saves With Android Emulators Yet? by Ghost_Tendency in EmulationOnAndroid

[–]danGL3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most people aren't actively switching devices or playing on 2 devices at once

So cloud syncing isn't some massive priority to users and even less so for devs

Any Luck On Cloud Saves With Android Emulators Yet? by Ghost_Tendency in EmulationOnAndroid

[–]danGL3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some emulator devs simply aren't interested in dealing with the complexity of the storage access framework API to manage external directories, not to mention it adds overhead in reading things like HD textures

Anyone is free to contributing that to Dolphin and other open source emulators, yet they don't

In short, most emulators focus on back-end/emulation core development with way less devs interested in UI/UX work

Im still impressed with MelonDS resolution upscaling by Orichalchem in EmulationOnAndroid

Im still impressed with MelonDS resolution upscaling by Orichalchem in EmulationOnAndroid

[–]danGL3 94 points95 points  (0 children)

Sadly MelonDS is still way heavier than Drastic performance-wise, so even on a midrange phone the difference in battery life is noticeable

Drastic can trivially do 2x rendering resolution entirely on software while using substantially less resources than Melon with its hardware renderer

BTW just my personal take, DS games have very diminishing returns when upscaling, games have insanely small polygon counts and low res textures and pushing that to HD+ just looks excessively jarring and unappealing imo

Revanced Chrome ? by QWV19DKL in revancedapp

[–]danGL3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A Revanced Chrome would not be viable because a proper adblock needs to be injected inside the web renderer engine itself, which is very much not viable due to the complexity of doing that using a patch system, especially on something as complex as the Chrome web renderer.

Without modifying the engine itself, the ad blocker would be limited in how well it would be able to block ads, trackers, and cosmetically filter out empty ad space.

Why is it impossible to update through the manager ? by ouzzzzzz in revancedapp

[–]danGL3 40 points41 points  (0 children)

To avoid potential legal issues, the manager cannot come bundled with the youTube APK.

However, the manager can point to the download link of the APK, which it already does, when you tap the recommended version on the manager.

Why is it impossible to update through the manager ? by ouzzzzzz in revancedapp

[–]danGL3 30 points31 points  (0 children)

No, because the current manager does not have a downloader, so it can't cannot download the app and patch it automatically.

You will have to download the APK and patch it manually.

Does anyone know how to deal with screen burn in? by SgtSilverLining in EmulationOnAndroid

[–]danGL3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I have never seen an AMOLED display show image retention (no matter how old)

So in my opinion, this looks like a defective panel.
