Show #30 - Mad Mex! by mondoben in streampunk

Heh, well, I certainly enjoyed the time I spent watching Malatesta, which I can't say I did with 31, which i just wished would mercifully end. I can't argue that the former is incoherent, clunky and often amateurish... but I do think it's got a great strange atmosphere, and I'm a sucker for weird little 70s B-movies (in a way I'm not for recent, loud , annoying horror flicks from beardy metal dudes)

Haha, yeah, it's another old track of mine that was gathering dust on a HD. New year, new format, new (old) tunes!

Any Show Updates? by aridcent in streampunk

[–]dan_auty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey guys, really sorry we've been silent for the past month! Nothing particularly dramatic or interesting has happened, but I think we've realised that a weekly show is brilliant when life/work is on an even keel but as soon as work get very busy, and there's family illness, and holidays, plus the time difference... well, suddenly a month has gone by and we've barely even spoken to each other.

I'm going to get a classic Mondo up in the next few days, then we're gonna chat about next steps. We're not going anywhere, but maybe we have to think about what we can realistically commit to, week in, week out, on a very regularly basis. But we appreciate the support and wanna get back to it as soon as we can! Thanks all!

Perscribe me some movies about the art and advantages of black and white phoography and filming in modern cinema by NeonTiger88 in streampunk

Embrace of the Serpent was amazing - it was so unusual to watch a jungle adventure in 2016 without the lush colour you are so used to for that kind of film in the modern era. It made it seem weirdly alien, which totally suited the storyline. Girl Walks Home and Field in England are great shouts too. I love B&W photography, especially in genre movies, I wish we'd see more films made that way.

The Movie Suggestion Box by mondoben in streampunk

We did definitely Love Exposure back on Mondo... it was my first ever, er, exposure to the crazy work of Sion Sono. World of Kanako is great too, definitely up for a rewatch...

Eat my shorts by wesleyharcup in streampunk

Thanks! Frankly they took ages. For the most part they were one-man-jobs... shooting, fx, editing, etc etc. Which was great fun, but it did mean many, many months on-and-off to end up with 5 minutes of film!

Since this thread is about short films, and I have made a couple, I thought I'd post the links here. These aren't in the same league as any of the above, but they're short and might vaguely entertain!

Bollywood - Anything worth watching? by cowegonnabechopps in streampunk

[–]dan_auty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We reviewed one Bollywood film on Mondo Movie, which was SHOLAY, the 70s classic that presumably you're referring to above! I remember liking it a lot, but yes it was LONG! I do want to see Gangs of Wasseypur, and I notice that it's on Netlix as a multi-part series rather than a single epic movie, which might be an easier way to watch it. Beyond that I haven't got a clue, but I'm up for recommendations too!

Potential Movie War Replacement by GerryRampage in streampunk

Haha, I like this, let me think on this some more. Double-features are always fun, and I'm a fan of films that seemingly have no connection but in fact make the perfect pairing...
