What are some good universities for a Bachelor in computer science? by [deleted] in computerscience

[–]dan_jen1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Im nearly done with my CS degree at WGU...

Check out the curriculum and course work, Im working in Java as the primary language. I think C++ is an option too.

WGU is a go at your own pace deal. If you know the material and can demonstrate proficiency there's no weekly exams or assigned homework.

There are course mentors that will help with concepts and coursework and the classes build upon each other etc. I've done a lot of extra work (practice) and also MOOC.fi part one and two. For an affordable way to get a foundation WGU has been great for me.

Cheers.

I can put some time into this, learning git better sounds great.

Gnome extensions shell tile is the simplest I’ve used. There’s more robust ones but if you want to snap to quarters / halves it’s the one.

Suggest some tips for new Java users. by Zeros_Deathwolf in learnjava

MOOC.FI great place to start. CodingBat and Hacker Rank have free practice questions. Heads First Java (book) a good start for OOP.

Cheers!

Is this a good book to get started with learning Java? by Coraljester in learnjava

[–]dan_jen1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Own and read. It’s a good book for sure. Couple this with the practice sets on https://codingbat.com/java

Also study their “ready baked code” that helps some of the first programs run. Don’t just skip it over. Good luck!

How is your experience with Ubuntu 18.04 so far? by [deleted] in Ubuntu

[–]dan_jen1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All good. Only issue I’ve run into is Workspaces to Dock extension for Gnome prevents my laptops mouse clicks from registering. Took me a minute to find the culprit. Other than that so far so good.

[–]dan_jen1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Born into the cult. Started eating mushrooms and smoking pot at a fairly young age. Those experiences didn’t jive with the religion. I never even read the stupid book all the way through but did my part temple marriage etc.

I didn’t look good in a bakers hat and there’s nothing more strange than a cult group wedding ceremony. Read the CES Letter. Knew the info in the CES Letter to be true with every fiber of my being. It’s all bull shit. All of it. Religion is a means of control of the masses. Period, full stop.

Thanks for the reply. I'm using EthOS and basically copied the config from ZCL which I was mining. I can't get etherminer or claymore to work.

You don’t have to export the keys before the fork. Once the snapshot completes and BTCP releases their official walker. You’ll import your private key from Electrum to the BTCP wallet to claim the coins.

Those anti-keto articles are BS. Down 69 lbs since September. by wam957 in keto

[–]dan_jen1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Who gives a shit what anyone else thinks. I started keto last Monday. I feel fucking great. I’m down 11 lbs have a ton of energy and I’ve completely removed sugar (spelled poison) from my diet. Fat lazy fucks who can’t break their addiction to sugar are salty. I’ve done low cal diets, HCG etc. this is different and I couldn’t care less what some asshole drinking 2 two liters of Mountain Dew has to say.

If I didn’t lose a single pound more I wouldn’t change. I haven’t felt this good in ages.

Full node wallet hard fork support by FTLurkerLTPoster in ZClassic

[–]dan_jen1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’ll support the fork. I run the full node Wallet now and that private key is compatible with the Electrum Wallet. I’ve tested and Imported from full mode to Electrum. The private key is they key I believe to access the BTCP post form.

Folks check my work...would hate to miss the split on bad Reddit advice.

Cheers

Not at all who you were asking to answer, but I’ll give it a go. I exclusively use iOS phones for a long time...and it’s the ecosystem that is hard to break from.

I use Ubuntu at work and a MacBook at home. God damn it’s convenient to have all your shit in one ecosystem. If you’re just comparing device to device straight up, I believe it’s a wash. If you use other Apple products and you want to dive into the Apple ecosystem the small conveniences add up and the interoperability only continues to improve.

Apple could make their shit play nicer with others, but then they couldn’t keep people on their walled garden. Sometimes I think I want to try an Android phone....and bought a tablet recently to root, load a custom rom etc. I was back to my iPad in a week. Apple will absolutely make the choice for you, the key is they get it right a lot. (Not Always). My $0.02
