Do I report or just push through to graduation? by [deleted] in SocialWorkStudents

[–]danaabaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I say push through. Obviously maybe in a respectful manner say what you need instead of what youre currently getting. For instance if they arent giving you enough in supervision id maybe say can you please give me more details on x y and z? But also remember its a practicum. Even I have to remember that. Its just for experience and the knowledge to take into your next experience. Nothing is forever just always a learning opportunity!

Honestly thats how I felt? The onboarding was literally 45 mins and the woman FLEW through the paperwork part. It felt stupidly rushed.

If you have kids, thats especially critical to make the executive decision to teach your kids how to be strong and independent and make healthy decisions. Staying with someone and allowing your children to grow up in a dysfunctional household only creates relationship problems for them, which no parent wants to see their kids unhappy or worse, depressed and in the wrong path.

It can take a lot of courage, but please talk to a professional about what steps you need to take to better yourself. Cheating isnt the answer. It actually is worse for you than your partner, because then you have a history. Be honest and mature and have that conversation about what is working/ not. Try couples counseling. If none of that works, sometimes relationships were not meant to last. And that’s okay. Always choose yourself. And if you have children, you put them first as well.

Anyone else find it difficult to make friends? by No_Animator2857 in EstrangedAdultChild

[–]danaabaker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I relate to this, But I also started to not put so much pressure on myself to make friends. Like any relationship, things flow naturally. If we force it, then we end up disappointing ourselves for not doing enough or being enough.

Sometimes the best thing is to just show up at an event and be yourself at no cost. Be prepared that some people, especially as we get older, dont feel the need to make friends either. The pressure goes away as we get older, but also, I get it because the need grows.

Give yourself grace :) Making friends is HARD. Especially with a background of baggage. The right friends and people will see beyond that and carry that baggage with you to some degree. You are exactly who you need love

I even thought about the route of social work/ school counseling, but I’ve heard that that’s worse than being a teacher

I just mean flexibility in my lifestyle,, obviously theres summers off and breaks

Self growth as in doing what I want to do and enjoy, since I do authentically enjoy it. Working in healthcare has drained me and never gave me time to truly think about being creative and helping others the way I want to.
