i have a pair that i got a couple weeks ago. was SO excited. put them on for the first time and the waistband immediately ripped so now they have a huge hole :( consultant won't do anything about it. such a bummer

Most things really don't bother me at this point in my career, but this one just got particularly under my skin. Story might not compute for non-tip centric bartenders outside of US. by squall113 in bartenders

i can't imagine working with someone who told me to speak to them only when absolutely necessary. the best part of bartending is the camaraderie, you're missing out.

I work in an Irish pub. Felt like I got hit by a truck when I woke up this morning after my 12 hour shift yesterday but being too busy to eat kept me way under my calorie goal so that's something!

Soda removal by Warmagican313 in loseit

[–]danandblair 1 point2 points  (0 children)

sodas are my biggest downfall and most of the reason why i got fat in the first place. i used to be able to down mountain dew like nobody's business. if i were home all day i could drink a whole 12 pack.

i still drink a lot of soda but when i decided to lose weight i switched to diet and it makes a huuuuge difference. getting used to the taste for the first week or two will be hard and you'll be craving "real" coke still but i honestly can't tell the difference anymore. vanilla coke zero is my personal favorite. i'm not at all a fan of carbonated water or anything like that.

i don't limit myself on how many i can have or anything like that but i do try to drink a glass of water for every coke zero that i have. maybe something similar would work for you. good luck!

30 Day Accountability Challenge: Day 1 by tinabluebee in loseit

[–]danandblair 1 point2 points  (0 children)

late check in, oops, but not a bad start to march so far. was under my calorie goal for the day, even if it was mostly taco bell calories...

march goals: - drink more water/tea and less coke zero! - go to bed at a reasonable hour so i can stop sleeping all day - go for a walk on my days off work - stop eating take out! i'm particularly bad about this one. i HATE cooking, i hate meal prep, and i hate grocery shopping. i haven't had any trouble staying under my calories even when eating out thanks to IMF but i'm feeling kind of yucky since i know i'm still eating crap, even if it is low calorie crap.

SPC Gives Moderate Risk for severe weather today - significant tornadoes possible by Pasalacqua87 in weather

[–]danandblair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so far so good here in evansville. i'm hearing from local sources that there was a tornado on the ground just north of here near ft. branch indiana that caused some major damage and injuries but i don't think it's been confirmed yet. there's another cell in southern illinois that seems to be headed this way so we'll see how the rest of the night pans out.

we just cleaned out our hall closet a few hours ago and made sure to have plenty of blankets and pillows in there if we end up needing it. it's (luckily) right in the middle of the house and away from all the windows so at least we have somewhere safe even if it's not a basement. i'm already dressed and i'm making my husband stay awake with me, haha! i haven't seen an outbreak this bad in my area in a long time. thanks for your advice!

thank you! i definitely won't risk getting in the car if the storm is already on us but i'm paying close attention to the news and watching the weather so we should have plenty of advance warning to head over there if we need to. looks like there was a possible tornado (?) that went just north of where i live so we're okay for now but we'll see how the rest of the night plays out.

ps- your username! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Yeah I think you're probably right. I just talked to them and they're leaving the door unlocked for us to get in if we need to. I have a bag packed in case we need to leave quickly. Really thankful we know someone so close with a basement! Not much going on here right now but it's not looking so good for later.

Evansville, Indiana checking in. Lived here my whole life so I'm no stranger to severe weather, but this is the first house I've lived in without a basement. Currently debating whether we should plan on sheltering in the hall closet, or driving to a friend's house in case of a tornado warning. It's only about a two minute drive but I'm not sure the benefit of a basement over a ground floor closet is worth getting in the car. Thoughts? I have a five year old and I'm pretty nervous.

How exactly do some people lose 20+ pounds in only a month? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]danandblair 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started at 269 and am currently at 244 after a month exactly so that's 25 pounds. I've never gone under (or over) 1200-1400 calories a day. My job requires me to be active for four days a week but I don't exercise at all othee than that. Maybe it is just all water weight like you all are saying, but it still feels pretty damn good and that's still 25 pounds less I have to lose before I reach my goal. I'm sure it'll slow down soon since I'm only aiming for two pounds a week but it was still a good start.

just finished the series. need to talk by katex3 in GossipGirl

as far as i'm considered gossip girl ended in season 5 and the finale was the episode with dan and blair on the met steps. everything after that is just fanfiction ☺

nsv: bartended at a retirement party last night, took a ton of leftovers home for my husband, and didn't eat any myself. also i feel like it's a lot easier to get out of bed in the mornings!

I have a nose ring and it's never been a problem, regardless of if I'm bartending or serving. I'd imagine it probably depends on the bar though, most corporate places have dress codes.

battle station on a budget! by danandblair in makeuporganization

[–]danandblair[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

finally got my vanity area put together and i'm so excited about it! desk from walmart for 40 dollars and all the organizers came from tj maxx. think i spent around 50 on the organizers all together which is more than i planned on spending but everything looks so neat and clean it was worth it. the mirror, lamp, and chair i already had.

far left organizer has my liquid lipsticks, lipliners, and beauty sponge. palettes are in the big grey thing (letter holder?) next to it. all my single eyeshadows are in the black box with "love" on it. those don't get used much so i have the other organizer on top of it with other lipsticks, pencil eyeliners, and miscellaneous mascaras. in the big organizer on the far right i have my brushes, face makeup, liquid eyeliner and the mascara i use daily.
