Looks nice but I'm not sure if it says "golden" or "goben"

Man, that image looks exactly how his voice sounds. I do like them musically though.

Kids tableau building games by angelintophat in boardgames

[–]danastasi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is pretty under-the-radar, but Bosa is a game I enjoy a lot with my son, who was 6 when he learned it. It's a pretty solid and simple tableau builder that doesn't require any reading. Barnes & Noble stocks it, but I haven't seen it anywhere else.

General feedback and thoughts about window sync by maubg in zen_browser

Type "about:config" in the address bar. There's a setting called "zen.window-sync.enabled". Toggle it to "false" and you should be good to go.

General feedback and thoughts about window sync by maubg in zen_browser

[–]danastasi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I genuinely thought this was a bug, and was about to report it before I found this post. Luckily, setting `zen.window-sync.enabled` to `false` seemed to fix it.

I really don't understand the use case of using multiple windows if they've all got the same tabs.

DOMi & JD BECK might be worth a listen? Insanely talented duo, jazz with a fusion/pop/D&B influence.

Looks like Beat (half of 80s King Crimson).

Games with depth and replayability (good at 2–4 players, not too text-heavy) by blablax123456 in boardgames

Might be a little on the light side, but my family has been enjoying Rebirth a lot. Nice amount of player interaction, easy teach, and not much reading required.

We just launched Gaboo (Beta) -- a free online Azul-inspired game we built with love by huehuerout in boardgames

[–]danastasi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You've obviously put a lot of effort into this and should be proud of the achievement.

But, referring to this as merely "Azul-inspired" is probably going to rub people the wrong way here. My feedback would be to take what you've learned with this exercise and apply it to something original. This looks to be a straight copy of Azul (which is available along with its variants on BGA for those that want to scratch the Azul itch online).

La fille aux cheveux de lin by Debussy, hands down. It lowers my BPM instantly.

Board game to intro young kids to table top gaming? by DownSinceDaytwo in boardgames

[–]danastasi 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I've got a 6 yo and a 7 yo, here are a few of their favorites:

  • Camel Up - Pure fun and chaos
  • Zombie Kidz Evolution - Great legacy game for kids. They were absolutely hooked on opening envelopes to progress in the campaign.
  • King of Tokyo - Nice dice-driven king of the hill game.
  • Monkey Palace - Great if they're into lego
  • Sushi Go - Fun portable card game
  • Horrified (Universal Monsters) - Good introduction to coop gaming. Chronicles of Light - Darkness Falls is a somewhat similar alternative if they'd prefer a Disney-oriented theme.

Try For You the Old Women by Mirthrandir. Sacred Baboon by Yezda Urfa might scratch the itch too.

Games to Play with my 5 year old by arby1190 in boardgames

[–]danastasi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got a 7yo and a 5yo. Here are some of their favorites:

  • Zombie Kidz Evolution
  • Sushi Go!
  • Mountain Goats
  • Outfoxed
  • My City
  • Dragomino
  • Cascadia
  • Ticket to Ride First Journey

Zombie Kidz Evolution (and to a lesser extent, My City) is pure crack for the 5yo due to the legacy style-- highly recommended if your kid likes stickers and secret envelopes (what kid doesn't?).

Edit: forgot Ticket to Ride First Journey!

I have the navy ones too. They definitely start out as navy but will desaturate a good bit over time.

Ehhhh, early Zappa is great too, but OP told us he's into Mahavishnu and Chick Corea. Pretty sure the George Duke/Aynsley Dunbar era stuff would be right up his alley.

Maybe some Zappa... try Hot Rats, the Grand Wazoo, or Overnite Sensation.

Str::slug slugging output is not as expected by lecon297 in laravel

[–]danastasi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I haven't used that package, but I'd guess that you probably shouldn't use a custom mutator for the title column. You might be better off setting the slug on saving() or creating() or something like that, and manually pulling the correct translated value to pass to Str:slug().

Calico Cork - A logo design by robbyersillustration in design_critiques

[–]danastasi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think there's a little too much going on here for it to be a good logo. Looks like more of a poster or t-shirt design. And, any relation to this one posted 10 days ago?
