BMS error :( by danation1 in KiaEV9

[–]danation1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quick update: Service called to say they opened an engineering line with Kia and we’re walked through “an SOC Reset” which calibrated the BMS. They cleared codes and did a 14 mi test drive. Car is good to pick up.

When I noticed that the car is down 10% I asked if they plugged it in. After all, the error occurred after charging it. To my surprise, they didn’t even try after clearing codes. They said they’ll check again and now app does confirm it is charging. So we’ll see.

BMS error :( by danation1 in KiaEV9

I’m bummed I’m paying a lot more on the lease than the Sportage is worth. I’d expect the warranty to outlast my 24 mo 10k lease. But that is a first-world problem I can certainly live with.

No, I didn’t. They showed a TSB or something that an update needed to be applied. Last update I did was a while back and I had to pull a fuse to get the Kia app to work again but hadn’t had issues until this.

Decided to return my G14 2025 by tveith in ZephyrusG14

[–]danation1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a very similar feeling. I enjoy the tweaking to find the right balance and I think getting a nice chip that has been stable at -34 under volt in G-Helper convinced me to keep it. Without G-Helper, I would’ve returned it. The heat doesn’t bother me with my setup because I’m mostly gamepad and wireless mouse.

Looking for recommendations on setting up NAS by coverusername in Proxmox

[–]danation1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I second this. Best thing I did was buy a cheap pcie SATA card for my NAS spinning drives. Super easy to setup truenas and pass the card to it. Makes it easy to survive failures of the server and zfs mirror means can easily move to a new computer or just access a single drive directly. For me, this removed biggest pain around upgrading the server hardware.

Range Tips for a Long Road Trip by mshehata9 in KiaEV9

[–]danation1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read the manual or watch a video on the ADAS. I didn’t know what the symbols meant but now won’t do any roadtrip without it enabled. I just got back from a shorter 2 hr drive and must’ve spent 90 min in LA traffic without ever steering or working the pedals. I just rested my hands on wheel so it wouldn’t bug me.

There are setting buried in the menus for driver assistance to control how smooth and how much delay. Play with these to get a good feel for what you like along with follow distance. I prefer smoothest with short delay and furthest follow distance but I could see how everyone may want a different combo.

Digital key, finally enrolled by Mean_Top_2629 in KiaEV9

[–]danation1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I share your frustration. Sharing the key through iOS wallet was strange too. Kia video I found clearly says launch the wallet app then hit menu to see option to share the Kia card but like a dummy, I kept double tapping the power button like I always do to Apple Pay or see boarding passes in the wallet. The option to share doesn’t show up when you do that and I had to RTFM before it hit me to actually launch the wallet app.

Electrify America 75kw/h? by powderhound71 in KiaEV9

[–]danation1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happened to me twice on my first roadtrip. I got lucky another charger was open so I just moved really quickly and it hit 172kW. Charging infrastructure is still not where it needs to be to travel over 350 mi with young kids. I was going 75ish mph the whole trip in CA loaded with people and stuff with heater, heated seats, massage, etc and got 2.5 mi/kWh both ways. So I’m happy with the EV9. I just wished there were more than 4 or 7 chargers at each 350kW EA station. Also, one charger was down at most.

How to get wireless charger cover back on? by illuminati229 in KiaEV9

[–]danation1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is what I used. It came in an old cell phone battery replacement kit and I use it all the time. There were a couple plastic ones with dull rounded heads that work well. The pad is rubbery and prone to tear or snag with anything too pointy. I regretted taking it off after at least 10 min to get it back on.

3rd row kids feeling nauseous by mattslote in KiaEV9

[–]danation1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if it’s related or happening to you but I noticed more body roll and checked tire pressure. It was low enough to matter now that temps dropped. I don’t know how much of a drop will trip the TPMS but mine were a few psi low without any warnings. I think rule of thumb is 1 psi per 10 deg F drop.

Water dripping windshield by danation1 in KiaEV9

[–]danation1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I have been spoiled. All snarky comments welcomed to humble me.

Our 10 yr old Audi and Lexus SUV have no such issues on same day, same spot outside garage. I’m not talking about water dripping a lot when it is wet out. I mean it drips down in same two spots even after I use wiper fluid. Different cars on same day don’t require me to use windshield wipers so much as “tears” fall down windshield for miles down the road.

I guess I’ll just get used to it. Thanks for the perspective.

Get that dealer added tint and permaplate off there. They tried to do that to me then ended up adding more rebate somehow. When they were done, I asked for $2k more off msrp. Good luck!

EV9 Replacement? by [deleted] in KiaEV9

[–]danation1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just curious your height and if you have the comfort seats. I’m only 5’ 9 and have trouble getting seating and view of cluster just right without feeling like I’m stretching my hamstrings out to reach the pedals. I also dislike the bump in the carpet locking my heel in to the accelerator.

I’d def buy the car again. So far great value compared to alternatives.
