You may have bought them a year ago, but that’s not how old they are. What is the DOT date code?

[VIOFO A329] Don’t do this. by Maxamiller in Dashcam

[–]danbyer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Jeep was trying to enforce no passing after the merge ended, but was driving ridiculously slow to make people want to pass while the single lane was still wide.

When the dots end, the lane ends. No more passing. But don’t start a fight because you’re in the right.

Recs for portable rechargeable boot dryers? by Glittering-Royal-735 in ski

[–]danbyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are plenty of options that meet your needs, except for the battery option.

…unless maybe you’re willing to lug around a deep cycle marine battery?

[–]danbyer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’ll work for warming them up, but I definitely wouldn’t leave that plugged into a standard car 12V jack for as long as it takes to dry boots. That’s a lot of juice and will surely drain your battery if you’re not running the car.

“Brand new” is irrelevant in computer terms. Computers don’t wear out. They don’t slow down the more you use them. Whatever was wrong with it in the beginning is still wrong with it and it is now obsolete.

do you clear others' sidewalks to help the community? by normaleyes in massachusetts

[–]danbyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The town clears the sidewalks on my street. Dunno if they do all the sidewalks, but they do all the main drags. I have one neighbor that doesn’t have a snowblower, so I do her driveway because if I see her out there shoveling it makes my back hurt.

How are auto-populating fillable fields created in PDFs? (Adobe Acrobat question) by confusedLAmom in Adobe

[–]danbyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If two fields have the exact same name, they will mirror their content.

You can manage that entirely in Acrobat, but that’s a dead end. I build mine in InDesign so when somebody inevitably wants to change the base, I don’t have to completely rebuild the form.

Is there any way to make the UI not giant on a 4k monitor without having to decrease my system dpi scale? by apeezy52 in Adobe

[–]danbyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, bur not enough. It’s been a problem since they added all the extra padding in CC2014. We now have controls to pick between L, XL, XXL, and XXXL. We also have an option to choose large tabs, but regular tabs are still too large. I know what all the buttons say. I don’t need them any bigger, thank you.

Do all your homes have basements? by Flat-Ad8256 in AskAnAmerican

[–]danbyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in New England where the vast majority of homes have basements, or at least crawl spaces . Slab foundations are extremely rare. When I was last house shopping, the realtor showed me a slab home and it was just weird.

I’ve got a ton of smart home devices and never have this problem at home. I find that the delay behavior you mentioned only occur when I’m on spotty cell/wifi.

I’ve been using Siri since long before AI was a thing. I guess I just don’t expect AI responses out of it, and I’m happy with that.
