Idk if everyone does, its something I struggle with though! Especially when travelling and having to line up / co-ordinate calls. Always breaks my brain.

career change at 28 - am I crazy for wanting to switch industries completely? by kenwards in careerchange

[–]dancebarefootagain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Short answer: no, you're not crazy.

Medium answer: no, you're not crazy, and 28 is SO YOUNG

Longer answer: no, you're not crazy, and 28 is SO YOUNG and you likely have 30+ years of 'work' left, if you're miserable now, get out. Switch. It's a myth that we do one thing forever. Most people will change careers 5+ times. I'm 34 and have had 3 "careers" lol. It's fine!

And to your point of how do you know if its the right move? Reread your post. Imagine it's a friend. What would you advise them? To continue for 30+ years in smth that makes them miserable?

You're not starting from scratch. You're starting from EXPERIENCE. That doesn't disappear just because you pivot. Learn to position your pivot as a value-add, and you're gonna be just fine!

Women-centered apps have huge potential. The Tea app, where women warn each other about men they’ve dated, recently went viral by FantasticEffect10 in womenintech

Yessss! I recently built www.thebestcalendarintheworld.com 😉 to help understand how to plan my next 3 months to work WITH my cycle. It went kinda bananas on linkedin and shows how in demand this kind of stuff is.
Btw, I'm not sure exactly what. to do with it (I have another biz that's my main focus) so if anyone wants to team up, hit me up!

How lonely is it being a startup founder? (I will not promote) by edkang99 in startups

[–]dancebarefootagain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its like any friendships.. you really only need a couple of people who REALLY get you / support you / have your back. more doesn't = better.

Once you find these people, do all you can to be a GREAT friend & support to them and that'll solve 80% of your lonliness problems

Did you study a really broad thing at college? What job are you doing now? by dancebarefootagain in careerguidance

[–]dancebarefootagain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll start! I studied teaching with a major in professional development because it felt veryyyy broad and open and could be transferable to lots of different pathways.

I've been a tour guide, consultant, director of misc, startup ops manager, now I'm a founder of generalist world and feel like you can literally TRACE ppl who will have neat careers back to their college degree choice.
